from two different kingdoms that are enemies.

they never cared, but they knew their parents would never approve. 

lorenzo berkshire and katie rose had always been the best of friends. since they were little kids. their parents never liked how close they were but let it slide for awhile. 

now that the pair turned eighteen, they were required to find suitable partners for marriage. lorenzo's first thought was katie, and katie's first thought was lorenzo. he made his way over to her palace, requesting to see her. 

she came down the stairs looking as beautiful as ever. berkshire already had a ring in his pocket. he knew her parents were right there, but he didn't care. katie bowed in front of him and he returned it. lorenzo took her hand and placed a kiss on top of it before getting down on one knee. 

"katie elizabeth rose, will you do me the most incredible honor of becoming my wife?" he opened the box to reveal a beautiful red diamond ring.

"of course, lorenzo, i'd be honored to." she tried to hold back the tears as he slid the ring on her finger and stood up to kiss her.

"this is unacceptable, prince berkshire! you know just as well as i that your parents would never approve of this union!" katie's mother cried.

"i've spoken to father about this. he supports my decision, as i am to be the future king." lorenzo pulled a piece of parchment from his vest.

katie's parents read over the paper. both king and queen berkshire signed off on the engagement and marriage. all they had to do was sign as well. katie looked at her mother and father with hope in her eyes. they asked for some time to think on the matter. lorenzo granted it to them with one warning. if they hadn't come to a decision within the week, the marriage would take place without their presence.

katie and lorenzo were escorted back to her chambers. berkshire kissed the girl again before leading her to the bed. they cuddled up to each other for awhile. until katie spoke up.

"lorenzo? are you certain you want to do this?" her voice full of worry.

"i've never been more certain of anything in my life, princess." he smiled.

"but my parents! they'll never approve of this, lorenzo!" she started pacing.

"i don't care about their approval, darling. all that matters to me is you and if you're wanting to do this." he joined her in her pacing, wrapping his arms around her waist.

"i only want you, lorenzo, only you. i don't care if we have to run away." she turned to face him, kissing his cheek.

"the things you do to me, princess." lorenzo whispered in her ear.

"how long until the wedding, my love? how long until i can devour you?" his words sent shovers down her spine.

"needy, are we?" katie teased.

lorenzo and katie were interrupted by her parents knocking on the door. they had reached a decision. berkshire straightened up and took a seat on the chair at the girl's desk. she let her parents in and watched as they sat on her bed. her mother started first.

"if this is what you desire, we give you our blessing." she took a deep breath.

"just promise me that you will take care of our daughter." her father sighed.

"i'll spend the rest of my life protecting her and giving her the life she deserves." lorenzo never looked away from katie.

"the wedding will take place in three days then. we'll discuss more with you later, prince lorenzo." the man nodded.

"thank you, father." katie smiled and hugged him.

they left her room, leaving the girl alone with her lover. lorenzo hurried over to her, picking her up and spinning her around.

"how do you feel about kids, darling?" katie whispered.

"i adore them. i've always wanted to be a father, more so a girl dad." he blushed.
