WARNING: GRAPHIC DEPICTIONS OF VIOLENCE
Credit to @remotelovesbatteries for this amazing chapter!
Today was officially the first day of summer. Since I wanted to qualify for the highest level of math, I decided to take summer school to skip a grade in math. Since I stayed up so late last night playing Truth or Dare with my friends, I slept soundly last night. I woke up and heard my mom call my name.
"Remote honey! Breakfast is on the table!"
"Okay!"
I paced downstairs and saw my mom prepare one of my favorites in celebration of me graduating high school. I sloppily ate my pancakes and relished the taste. My mom always knew how to make pancakes. It wasn't long until my plate was empty. I went to put my plate in the dishwasher and proceeded to do my morning house chores. I hated chores, but my mom was already overworking, so it was the least I could do.
After finishing my chores, I packed my backpack full of necessities and hurried off to school. I decided to take my skateboard today, as I hadn't gotten to ride it much during the school year. Since the summer school was hosted extremely close by, I figured that I would still be on time for school despite using a skateboard as my main source of transportation.
I got to school and parked my skateboard outside.
"So, this is it huh." I stared at the school, examining the tidy, refurbished building. I walked inside and saw some of my friends I knew, but the majority of the students here were from a different school. The only people I recognized here were Golf Ball and Tennis Ball, who were both huge nerds. I waved to them and the Tennis Ball smiled and waved back.
"Hello, guys!" I greeted them with a smile.
"Hey, Remote." Tennis Ball waved back also with a smile. Tennis Ball nudged Golf Ball to also say hi, as he wasn't so fond of her antisocial, overly controlling nature.
"Greetings, Remote." Golf Ball fake-smiled. It was blatantly obvious she was faking it.
"Hey, what class are you guys taking here?" I asked, curious.
"Oh, GB and I are both taking math so we can be on the higher track."
"Cool! I'm in the same class as you!"
"You hear that GB? There's someone else here we can talk to."
"Yeah Yeah, that's cool, I guess." Golf Ball rolled her eyes and gave me a side-eye.
The bell rang and I walked with Tennis Ball and Golf Ball to our class. I knew I would be sitting in the classroom for the next four hours learning about math. I figured the class would be boring, so I bought a portable charger for my phone so I could at least have some entertainment. We entered the classroom and saw the professor. They were rather short, but they seemed to be friendly. They wore a suit and tie and sat in their office chair.
"Welcome guys! Come on in!" The professor motioned in a high-pitched voice.
The classroom already had our respective names on our desks. "Okay, so where is my desk?" I thought to myself. I looked at the seating chart. "Test Tube... Fan... Remo- A HA! There I am." I walked to my seat and laid my materials out on my desk. I brought a notebook Liy had given me in the middle of the school year, which I never used. I decided now was a good time to use it. I played some games on my phone while I waited for class to start. I saw one by one as the students entered the classroom. The students didn't seem weird, but they were different. A girl with a cool punk-rock jacket and messy hair sat next to me.
"Heya there!" The girl reached out and shook my hand.
"Hello!" I tried to seem polite.
"I'm Microphone, but you can call me Mic. What's your name?"
