Present Day..........
~
Today's the the day.
I finally got the letter of approval to become a foster or adoptive parent two weeks ago and now it's my first appointment or meet and greet at an orphanage called Angel's Orphanage.
As you can tell, I am very excited. I've wanted to become a mother for a very long time now. When I found out I couldn't have kids on my own I was devastated but I realized that life is short and I could always adopt. I didn't want to wait on a man to do that with me either. I am financially, mentally, and emotionally stable to be able to provide on my own. I've taken multiple parenting classes on all ages to prepare. Am I nervous? Of course I am but the excitement will always outweigh that emotion.
If I'm being honest, I don't necessarily care how old the kid is. As long as I feel some kind of connection with them and vice versa. Whether it be built over time or instant. I just want to be able to give my unconditional love to someone as well as give them a family that they deserve.
It's currently 9:30a.m. and my appointment begins in thirty minutes. I decided to wear a simple grey sweater and jeans paired with some Doc Martens, considering its the beginning of Fall in Italy. My hair in styled in a slick back bun with curls peeking through. I decided to do light makeup; brush eyebrows, blush, lipliner, lipgloss, and a little mascara. For any final touches I just added a bit of silver jewelry; a couple of rings, a simple necklace and small hoop earrings.
On my way to the orphange, I rode in my black 2024 Toyota Camry.
Its was around 9:45a.m. when I finally made it. I swiftly parked my car in an open space and walked towards the front door of this big house. I took a deep breath before I finally knocked. That's when a white woman with brown wavy hair and light brown eyes opened the door.
"Hi, I'm Sadie the director and owner of this orphanage. You must be Mrs. Jenson." She introduced herself while holding out her hand for me to shake, which I did.
I gave a big smile. "I am but you call me Jordan, please." I responded as she led me inside the orphanage and to her office.
"Of course and please take a seat." She gestured towards the seats on the the other side of her desk. As we both got comfortable she spoke up. "So let's began. What age range were you interested in adopting?" She inquired.
"I honestly don't have a preference. I just want connection, if that makes sense." I tried to explain to her.
"It makes a lot of sense. Would this be your first child or do you have kiddos at home?" She asked.
"I would be a first time mother. I don't have children." I answered.
"In my opinion, I would suggest that you should adopt young. 0-8 years old. Only because it's your first time and easier to build a connection with them while they're young, though I will be allowing you to see all the children from all ages so if you find a kid older and want to adopt them, that is totally fine." Sadie suggested, giving her professional advice.
