It's Christmas Eve.
The living room was illuminated by the tree, which was adorned with gold and silver ornaments, highlighting the entire house. Rather than a star, there was an angel at the top per Jordan's tradition as many presents laid under the tree, ready to be opened up tomorrow. There were four stockings strung over the crackling fireplace, and the pleasant warmth it emanated was like no other. My senses were filled with a cozy feeling by the faux candles and twinkle lights arranged around the fireplace. The air was filled with the aroma of coffee and the scent of fresh cut frasier. The stairs were further decorated with more lights and foliage. I have never felt more in the Christmas spirit than I do right now.
The ambiance was light as it was filled with lots of laughter and happiness while I played with my daughters awaiting Jordan's return from the doctors. She scheduled an appointment as soon as we came back from our trip in Rome as it has been bothering her on why she hasn't been feeling too well lately. I honestly don't know what might be going on with her. She has all the signs of being pregnant if I compare her to my sister, Valentina but Jordan can't physically have kids so it's all very much confusing if you ask me. I just hope it's something that's fixable or simple and not something that will affect her in a bad way. I only wish to see her happy and healthy so I hope for nothing but positivity after her appointment especially on Christmas Eve.
It's been three hours since she left which is thirty minutes over the time she was supposed to be back home. I tried to call her and even text her a few times but she hasn't answered. I figured I'd reach out to her mother, Josephine, as Jordan always answers her phone calls. When Josephine let me know that Jordan wasn't picking up her calls either, is when I subtly began to panic. I think Josephine could sense my anxiety slowly rising because that's when she thankfully invited herself over to watch over the kids while I tried to figure out where Jordan was.
I have this feeling that something may have happened but I don't want to assume anything because it's only been thirty minutes and I could be very well exaggerating. Maybe she stopped to get gas or stopped by the store for something she may have forgotten. Who knows? There could have even been traffic as I know how busy it can get on the road on such a holiday.
As I paced the living room, waiting for Jordan to return my call, I watched Bay idly play with her dolls in the playroom while Bellamy had moved to sit in her quiet space. For the past thirty minutes, she's been wearing her noise canceling headphones while concomitantly rocking herself back and forth with her legs scrunched up against her chest. One arm was around her legs, holding them tight and the other arm was free as her hand began to tug on her ear.
I was beginning to approach her as I knew there had to be something I could do to help her but Josephine immediately stopped me as she gently put her hand on my shoulder. "She's stimming—usually when she goes to her quiet space it's because she wants to be left alone." Jo advised me. I gave her a helpless look as I rubbed the nape of my neck. Jo just merely gave me the look and I knew I had to leave Bella alone.
