Ruby, Keith and Penny still remain in the alleyway right after Penny revealed her identity. Ruby doesn't seem to understand the subject but for keith everything that he's seen ironwood do seems like it would lead to him attempting to create a humanoid robot, but what did surprise him was that this "robot" could have a semblance like the one he saw at the docks that night.

Ruby: Penny..i'm not sure i understand

Penny: Most girls are born but i was made, i'm the world's first synthetic person capable of generating an aura.

Penny seemed a bit excited about revealing ruby her secret and what made her special, but she immediately dejected down in sadness.

Penny: I'm not really

Keith tries to comfort her but ruby beats him to it. Ruby grabs Penny's hands and opens them examining the exposed metal before closing them again with her warm smile on her face.

Ruby: of course you are, you think just because you got nuts and bolts instead of squishy guts makes you any less real than me

Penny: i dont...um

Penny seems confused and leans in looking at Ruby carefully.
Penny: You're taking this extraordinarily well.

Keith: That's my ruby for you, she's welcoming to everybody she comes across.

Keith gives Penny a big smile while hugging Ruby from behind. Ruby tries to squirm but Keith just holds tighter.

Ruby: Penny listen, your not like those things we saw back there.

Ruby pokes her chest making a hard tapping sound.

Ruby: You've got a heart and a soul you can feel it

Keith: You have a lot going for you, you're clearly more human than some people on this planet and in a world where we have faunus, I'm sure you fit just right in.

Penny seem extremely happy hugging the two of them tightly

Penny: oh you two are best of friends that anyone can have

Ruby and Keith struggle to get out of her grasp.

Ruby: I can see why your father would try to protect such a delicate flower.

Penny lets them go at the mention of her father.

Penny: oh he's very sweet, my father's the one that built me, i'm sure you would just love him

Ruby: Wow, he built you all by yourself?

Penny: well almost, he had some help from Mr.Ironwood

Keith: (so i was right, but what exactly was he building penny for?)

Keith stayed silent but Ruby seemed confused and a bit shocked.

Ruby: the general? Wait!? Is that why those soldiers were after you?

Penny smiles

Penny: They like to protect me too.

Ruby gives her a skeptical look.

Ruby: They don't think you can protect yourself?

Penny: they're not sure if I'm ready yet. One day it'll be my job to save the world, but I still have a lot left to learn. That's why my father let me come to the vytal festival. I want to see what it's like in the rest of the world and test myself in the tournament.

Ruby: Penny what are you talking about, Save the World from what? We're in a time of peace.

Keith seems to bite his tongue. He wishes he could tell Ruby all that he knows about her real father, about the things that threatened their existence but he knew he couldn't for the sake of keeping the peace and her own.
