The Badge and The Burden

The sun shined through the windows of the beacon dorm rooms. Some students wake up eager to go to class on their first day and others. Well others not so much.

Cy: I fucking hate uniforms

Cy Echoes, the tried and true pyromaniac of team Pyda. Struggled to put on his tie that paired with his uniform. He tries to tighten it but he ends up choking himself and causing him to fall on the floor and start rolling.

Cy: Ack! help!

His teammate Cri walks over and manages to get off of him and puts it on properly. Cy collected himself and got up from the floor.

Cy: thanks

Cy looked over to his best friend Dj who was posing in the mirror with his stylish new uniform. He takes a few pictures of himself.

DJ: I work the school boy look. don't you think?

Cy facepalms and cri rolls his eyes. Cri realizes something and looks around the room but no sign of Aqua.

Cri: where the hell did he go?

DJ: He said he was gonna walk the school grounds before class.

Cy: he looks like the meditating type you know? The kind of guy that goes out for walks to "find his inner self" or whatever.

Cri shakes his head and chuckles.

Cri: He is. Trust me back home he would leave around 4 am just to go walk a two mile trail outside of our house

Cri begins to put his uniform on while he and the others talk.

(Meanwhile In Team Arcc's dorm)

Commando blew a loud whistle causing the others to jump awake.

Commando: Attention soldiers, the first day of the rest of our lives begins today, I want you all dressed in 5 minutes GO!.

All of them were confused and still drowsy from their awakened slumber. Rick gets off his bed and opens his suit cases with his school uniform inside of it. He begins to put it on as the others did the same. Coda posed in the mirror.

Coda: I'm the sexist guy in beacon

He says admiring himself.

Adam: trust me I've seen better looking guys from vacuo and that place sucks.

Coda crosses his arms and stares at him

Coda: tell that to the man in the mirror

He points to the mirror behind him with his thumb. The reflection of coda shoots finger guns and winks at Adam with a slight sparkle in his teeth as he smiles. Adam looks extremely confused and shakes his head.

Adam: Whatever man. As your team leader I don't think it's healthy to lie to yourself but if it keeps you happy then be my guest.

Coda rolls his eyes and goes back to paying attention to himself in the mirror. He straightens his tie.

Coda: Why do they have core classes anyway aren't we supposed to be like killing Grimm and vanquishing evil or something like that

Rick: I don't think remnant would in trust a bunch of uneducated teens with their safety.

Rick says leaning against the doorway ready to leave. Coda looks back at him.

Coda: yeah but like we aren't "uneducated" we know a lot about the basics. Besides how can stuff like math help us when fighting terrible monsters.

Rick: well, math can be used to organize battle tactics, knowing the right math to calculate the angles and the movements of your opponent. You can also use math to calculate how much dust you need to finish a battle. Also looking at your weapons and the way you use them. You have to calculate which angle you should shoot your whips to swing.
