No Safe Haven

*Mistral*

Keith, Ruby and their friends had finally arrived at Mistral, they were staying in a house in the kingdom and were finally getting some well deserved rest after the chaos that was their journey to Mistral. Keith shared a room with Ruby and Neo but he chose to sleep on the floor, they were fast asleep but Keith was up at his desk writing in his notebook.

It's been a while since I've written in here, I haven't had the time but it's always been on my person. What can I say right now, I guess I could start with the fact I got my eye removed, it was starting to become infected from the burns I suffered from using Onyx's powers... i also decided to remove it because it would helpnme forget and well I can't sugar coat it.. Things have been rough for all of us, I know it because I see it in everyone's eyes that they wished things were back to normal and I can't help to blame myself that they aren't getting what they want whether it was me leaving or me not stopping cinder in general, I feel guilty for it but they have determination to help change the world but they don't know what Salem is capable of, they don't have the memory of many lifetimes that are filled with failures, but maybe now... Maybe we all can do it together, that's what I hope, even in these times of separation and when we all have our own battles to face, battles where we fight what we hold in our souls to hopefully come out above, I want this to be true or maybe it's just another pipe dream but whatever it is, I hope that it comes true...

Ruby: Keith?

Keith turns around and sees that ruby was sitting up in bed, her hair was messy and she was still clearly tired.

Keith: Go back to sleep...

Ruby: I can't, you have the desk light on and it hurts my eyes

Keith rolls his eye

Keith: Well I have one eye and it doesn't bother me...

Ruby groans

Ruby: Are you going to always use that excuse?

Keith: if it stops you from whining...

Ruby crosses her arms

Ruby: What!? I do not wine.

Keith: I'll take your word on that one...

Ruby gets up from bed and walks over to towards the desk, Keith puts his notebook away and stands up. They stand in front of each other and seems to stay silent for a few minutes not knowing what to say. Keith wraps his remaining arm around her and pulls her into a hug, She wraps her arms around his waist and they stand there for a few minutes.

Keith: Sorry for being an ass, it took until we fought the nuckelavee to realize that I do need you all... I'm sorry that I pushed everyone out... You most of all...

Ruby: No I get it, you've been through a lot. This has probably hit you the hardest and you need your time.

Keith: No... You all need me now, my job is to stop what happened to beacon from happening every again but I can't do that alone and I know we all need to work together to complete our mission.

Ruby pulls away from the hug and smiles, She holds Keith's hand and watches as he begins to smile, it was the first time she'd seen him smile in along time.

Keith: I love you Ruby Rose

Ruby blushes and pulls Keith into another hug, he leans down and kisses Ruby's forward softly.

Keith: Now get to bed...

Ruby: Fine, only if get in with me

Keith: Whatever...

Ruby smiles happily before walking over to the bed and laying down, she opens the blankets up for Keith to crawl in and he does so. Keith lays down in between Ruby and Neo, wrapping his arm around Ruby, after a few minutes he could feel Neo cling onto his back, he was about to move to shake her off but Ruby stops him.
