It had been a long week leading up to this. It had been days since Amara had properly spoken to anyone, but here she was, sat alone in her dressing room whilst looking at her own reflection. The tabloid she read earlier was thrown in the bin earlier out of anger. It basically stated what had happened the other day since Lara and Molly were pictured out of their minds and then being taken by ambulances. Amara hated that the public had to know everything about their lives. Even when she read Amelia and Carl's name, she felt angered.
She tried to call Niamh a bunch of times, but the girl didn't pick up. Niamh never picked up. It was as if she had vanished off the face of the earth. Amara hoped she hadn't lost Niamh either, wherever she was.
Amara occasionally looked at her notepad on the table, reading through the lyrics of the song she wrote whilst sitting in her lonely hospital bed. 'Horizons', that was the name of one of the songs she was going to sing for the pre show.
Yep, pre show, and plural. Samantha told her last minute on the flight to America that they were gonna perform for the pre show, but also because the first song is a tribute song, they want The Junes to do another one later on in the show to show off their new upcoming album that had been rumoured. It made the whole thing even more nerve wracking. Especially considering who the first song was for.
Lara had come along with them, but she didn't want to perform the first one. She couldn't. She had refused, just for this once. When Amara showed her the song, Lara broke down in tears. She loved it, but she knew that if she performed it onstage, she wouldn't be able to handle it. So, Amara was in charge of the guitar. Although, Lara promised she'd give her sister and Amara as much support from the audience, but of course do the second performance.
Amara shut the notebook, the lyrics were in her head, she hoped to do great. She brushed her leather jeans down, moved her hair out of her face. The dressing room lighting was bad enough, making her look sick like she did back in the hospital. The amount of makeup she had to cover up the fading bruises on her arms from the hospital made her feel like a cake, nevermind look cakey.
There was a knock on the door, making her jump out her skin, "Who is it?" Amara called.
"Samantha!"
"Come in." The door opened.
"It's nearly time. Five minutes." Samantha tried to give her a reassuring smile, one that Amara couldn't return. She'll be able to return it after the performance.
"Right. Uh, is she watchin' at the side or in the audience?" Amara asked, referring to Lara.
"Audience."
"N' Liam?"
"He got here ten minutes ago," Sam chuckled. She rummaged in her jacket pocket and pulled out a pair of purple tinted circle glasses, handing them to Amara. "He told me to give you these, didn't say why. I'm assuming you know though, but, come on, your guitar's already been tuned for you."
"Thanks Sammy." Amara nodded at her. She placed the glasses over her eyes, looking in the mirror with a small smile until she had to shakily open the door again and head out, "I feel sick."
"You're going to do great. They'd be so proud of you all." Sam reassuringly told her, walking her towards the side of backstage. "And you love performing, so that's another reason."
"God, why do I love performin'?" Amara sarcastically asked.
"No time for that." Sam replied, gesturing towards the alert stage crew around them. Amara was handed her purple guitar, she strummed it nicely and secured the strap before hearing an oddly familiar voice behind her who she wasn't expecting.
