Ray scrambled backward as fast as he could, kicking up dust in the process. The demon angel just continued to stride forward though, closing the gaps between them, scythe at the ready.

Eventually Ray stopped moving back, fists raised in an attempt to strike at the adversary baring down on him. The fallen angel took this pause as an opening to attack, slicing forward with its weapon.

Ray focused as the blade fell, in what seemed like slow motion, attempting to conjure a shield to protect himself. He smiled when rocks began to rise up, spinning in front of him, though quickly changed his demeanor when said stones began to fly at him, rather than construct a shield.

He was horrified as the rocks buried themselves in his arms, piling on and on atop the flesh, creating large earthy gauntlets out of Ray's arms. The earth draconian was worried at first, this was something he had never used his powers to do before, but he only smiled when he found that the gravels embedded in his skin did not hurt.

He instantly lifted his rock covered right hand, deflecting the slash of the angel's scythe. Said being took a step back at this, more than likely confused at the events that were beginning to play out.

Ray saw this opportunity and jumped up, bringing his earth shielded arms up, and getting into a fighting stance.

He felt the exact opposite of what he always thought he was: weak. Ray always thought he was the weakest of the vessels, he thought he was small and fragile compared to them. But now, Ray felt powerful. He felt like he could take on the world.

He would start this conquest with the fallen angel standing in front of him.

Said creature had broken out of the confused trance it had been in at this point, once again raising its weapon. Ray threw punches with his stone protected hands then, trying to get a feel for the new weight. When he was satisfied, the earth draconian dashed forward, right hand stuck out in front of him, as if he were performing a punch.

This "punch" hit the demon square in the jaw, sending it sprawling on to the ground, though it was quick to recover. Ray laughed at it nonetheless, a soft, quick chuckle, happy with the power he had been given.

The angel was the exact opposite of happy, though, ruffling its dark colored wings and again swinging at Ray with its sickle, which bounced harmlessly off of the earth vessel's left hand. Said draconian chuckled again, before sending a few quick jabs to the demon angel's chest with his rock covered hands. He then uppercut it in the jaw, making it crash back into the ground, before kicking its scythe out of its left hand, leaving it only with a shield and its armor.

Ray proceeded to then wail on the monster with quick punches to its torso and head, though it blocked a few of them with its shield. It wasn't long before the earth draconian had knocked away the demon's helmet with his foot, though, leaving its head unprotected. The earth vessel toyed with the demonic being for just a bit after that, kicking it in its sides and breaking its wings, even making the fallen angel cough up some dark colored blood. Before long, though, Ray was ready to finish the fight.

He wound his right hand back, the angel wounded and powerless on the ground beneath him, before swiftly launching his arm forward, instantly caving the demon's head in.

It died shortly after that, disappearing into a black smoke with a single high pitched cry.

After killing the adversary, Ray attempted to help his comrades, who were still out cold at the time. He didn't have healing abilities or medical knowledge, like Geoff or Jack, but he did place their packs behind each of their heads, and cleaned and bandaged what wounds he could.

The rocks eventually fell from Ray's skin and pattered on to the ground, leaving no sign that they had ever embedded themselves into the earth vessel's arms. Upon experimentation, Ray found that he could use this ability, he decided to refer to it as "Rock Gauntlets," whenever he desired.

Jack was the first to wake up, waking when evening was about to fall. Ray told him about what had happened, specifically touching on the new ability he had acquired.

Jack had just smiled and stated that it must have been a vessel thing, as he had not been able to do healing through water until his early twenties. As they discussed this phenomenon, the other four draconians woke, and everyone's wounds were more fully taken care of.

The six were journeying again after the course of a day, with Mount Coronor eventually visible in the distance.

Ray never did brag about his triumph over the angel, nor how he attempted to care for the others' injuries.

He also never spoke of his new ability.

Let's

just say that the others, besides Jack, who laughed hysterically at the

reactions of the four other vessels, were not prepared to see it in action.
