The flight back to the Edge was relatively silent, as neither of the four riders knew what to say, but their dragons did not keep their thoughts to themselves.

I cannot believe you two just showed up! Toothless snapped.

Hey! Don't put the blame entirely on us, Lightbolt defended, short flashes of lightning surging down his back spikes.

Look, I know you're not happy with us... but remember we still follow you as the Alpha. Wherever you go, we go. Blueheart understood, and she also understood that Stormfly was worried for her best friend, and Lightbolt felt the same about her.

Toothless, they wanted to make sure we were safe. The male Night Fury sighed, feeling Nightfire land on his back, leaning against Hiccup to rest.

I know... but that was incredibly risky, don't do that again.

Listen, we were wild dragons once, we all were. We can handle our own.

It's not entirely that, those dragons now know that humans can find the Hidden World, the one place where dragons have been safe from humans for eons. Many have never been beyond the surface.

But you're the Alpha, their Alpha now, I know you'll be able to rebuild that trust.

Maybe... in time.

The silhouette of the Edge soon peeked over the horizon, and the other riders were out to greet their Chief for his safe return. Coincidentally, Ruffnut showed up on the back of a baby Scuttleclaw shortly after their arrival.

"Ruffnut?!" Astrid exclaimed, relieved but astonished to see the Thorston twin cackling about her incredible escape from Grimmel.

"Haha! Man let me go! I annoyed him into it."

"He... let you go?" Hiccup repeated, color draining from his face.

"Hiccup?" He turned to Astrid, startled.

"We need to start preparing, NOW! Everyone! To your stations!" He ordered, his tone dramatically shifted. Zyrah realized that Hiccup realized that Grimmel was coming, that he most certainly let Ruffnut go to follow her and track her down to the Edge.

"We need to get Nightfire to a safe place, Zyrah?" She saluted and scooped up the hatchling, taking off with Blueheart to ensure the baby Night Fury would not be harmed. With her heading off, Ana then started working on getting Dusk suited up as well, with her retreating to the healer's house with Gothi, alongside the other healers from the other tribes.

"'Aight 'Hiç, what's the plan?" Camicazi questioned.

"We wait for Grimmel, and we prepare for the frontal attack."

"Why not just attack first?"

"Well, with some insight from Zyrah, we want to see how Grimmel and the hunters will attack, what they'll use."

A few hours later, the first sightings of the hunter's symbols were observed over the horizon. Then the airship was sighted, making its presence known with the calls of the Deathgrippers and the various trapped dragons.

Suddenly though, the cries of the dragons changed, and hardly with a moment's notice, the first fire attacks began. The onslaught began with Monstrous Nightmares and Ladders firing at the outskirts of the Edge where the Berkians had temporarily settled. Then came the Gronckles, with their heavier firepower.

Zyrah had just managed to bring Nightfire to a spot in the underground caverns that maintained secret entrances for a situation like this. Hiccup had instructed her on where to go and that Ana and Dusk would accompany her for extra safety, and so that Ana could prepare Dusk as well.
