Wow. Y'ALL, I TOLD YOU I'D CRY-
I had to cut the episode short yesterday when I started it because my headphones died, but OH MY GOD.
@Donutiscooltoo , you were SO right. They tied everything together PERFECTLY.
So, Hilda's hair is blue because she is part fairy, and her grandparents, Johanna's parents, are fairies. It was fairies this whole time.
ALSO, WHAT DID I FUCKING SAY, BOIIIIII-
I thought that Astrid was off. I thought she was something else, I even SAID, STRAIGHT-UP, that she was a fairy once. I WAS RIGHT!
Why they gotta make everyone look so FINEEEEEEEEE, Johanna was already hot, but HER FUCKING PARENTS BRO?!?!?!? AND YOUNG ASTRID?!?!?!?! STOP. My bisexuality can't take another direct hit.
The time I cried was when Johanna had regained her memories. BRO THAT WAS SAD. I didn't know Johanna would be having such a backstory, but here we are.
And DANG IT. I grew to Anders too. I was happy for him in the end. He got the life he wanted, close to his family.
AHHHHHFJFJSBDJEJZBFJEJXBDJSKDKCN, THERE WAS SO MUCH FRIDAVID THAT THEY'RE BASICALLY FUCKING CANON NOW AHDBEOXBRJSJFDJDBXJRNDH
I mean. I don't mean to tell you that I told you so, but...I FREAKING TOLD YOU SO!!! They were ALWAYS endgame. And I knew it.
There were SO MANY CUTE AND FUN CAMEOS in the finale. Let's break them down!
1. Kaisa, our badass witch girl! She made an appearance in the episode before this, I believe. Yes, Strange Frequencies, where she was happily rolling her eyes at Hilda's antics, knowing her all too well already. Anyways, in the finale, she's seen as David is adorably and generously handing her a bag of Jorts as they watch the Great Raven Parade.
2. That leads us into our next cameo, the Marra! First we see the first Marra we ever encounter in the show, whom I call Sabrina, and then it pans to her hanging out with ALL OF HER LESBIAN FRIENDS. Anyways, they do look grown, I must say. (COUGH COUGH, MY BISEXUALITY ACTS UP WITH ALL THOSE GOOD LOOKING WOMEN IN ONE PLACE). I've always said that the Marras, ALL OF THE MARRAS, were lesbians or at least sapphics. I'm gonna have to see the scene again to see if Kelly was there, but seeing as Sabrina, HER GIRLFRIEND COUGH COUGH, was there, she must have been there too.
* Edit: I saw the paused scene somewhere online and inspected it, Kelly was NOT there. I'm kinda upset, but not surprised that Sabrina would just leave her gf out like that. Ouch.
3. This is a double cameo, as there are two groups of people seen here. Well, one group of people and another person, entirely different. First cameo, we see the man we saw in The Jorts, I can't remember his name, selling some Bloops, as he works there now. Then, we see three figures rushing by, which are Trevor and his friends. I never cared enough to name the other one, but I named the girl...many names. I believe the name I most remember started with an M. Maisy or Milly or something. Anyways, I ship Trevor and Maisy, don't judge me.
*edit: I remember now, I'm 99.999% sure I named her Maisy initially and then forgot, as I don't really write names down.
4. After that shot, a box of Bloops falls to the floor, making who else appear but...the Rat King!
5. I forgot to mention this, but Baba and her mother come out in the beginning. The Woodman also appears, but I didn't think to mention him because he's already appeared throughout the season.
6. THE RAVEN!!!! IT'S THE GREAT RAVEN!!! HE CAME BACK!!! AND HE AND HILDA DID THE THING!!! THE THING AT THE END OF THE INTRO!!!
7. We also saw Bartel and...Alice? I'm sure that's not her name...at the beginning of the sequence also. Glad to see they're doing ok.
8. This is actually not only a cameo, but a funny acknowledgement of a popular fan theory in the Hilda fandom! Anders, Hilda's biological dad, is walking around and he bumps into The Bellkeeper, which of whom many, myself included, thought was Hilda's actual dad! It's honestly really funny, and nice that they acknowledged the existence of this theory.
9. I don't think that Erik Ahlberg appeared in the sequence scene, but he did appear in the end credits. Yes, I was so sad I watched the end credits. I'm unaware if Gerda was in the sequence either, but she was also in the end credits, along with a cameo in Strange Frequencies.
I think that's all the cameos? I was too sucked into the moment that I couldn't focus on all the characters, but I'll watch the scene again later. Also, WHO WOULD'VE THOUGHT?!?!?!?! Victoria FREAKING Van Gale, saving the day. And so awkwardly, too. She was just like "Hey, so I wasn't eavesdropping, but I was eavesdropping, and I heard you were trying to strike a bargain to become, oh, I don't know, THE RULER OF THIS WHOLE FREAKING KINGDOM?!?!? Not that I'm mentally unstable or anything, haha."
Wow. This show was so...AMAZING. I will never look at Bella Ramsey the same, this is basically where I found out about her existence as an actress, and I will never forget Hilda. It was a BLAST, and I'd do it again. If you guys ever want to request for Hilda oneshots, do it now before the time period for my obsession expires, and with that, I'll see you later. Thanks for reading, and HAPPY NEW YEAR!
