Chosen
I was chosen
At a young age.
I was pushed down
Until I ignored the pain.
I was hit
I was bleeding
I was ignored on the sidewalk
Left there breathing.
I was taught how to fight
As long as I knew the rules.
I was taught how to lie
When I broke those rules.
I was taught how to live,
How to die
How to survive with just a knife.
I was fierce
I was strong
Tears froze in my eyes
Along with the mask I put on.
I was wild
I was free
And I could get
Whatever you need.
I could sneak
I could be
The very thing
That haunts your dreams.
Close your eyes
Ignore the feeling...
I was taught how to kill
Now you're bleeding.
