Passion and pain, those were the only two emotions burning in Candy's heart. She thought that she would be the one going on a date with Dipper but some other girl had to come along and take him from her. "How, how could he pick some other girl over me?!? I'm just as cute as any other girl in Gravity Falls but noooo, he had to pick some random bimbo off the streets...bet she's not even that pretty." Candy thought gloomily as she kept crying on the bench where her heart had been torn to shreds.
Candy had watched Dipper and Wendy leave after a couple of minutes, their arms loaded with supplies. "Probably for his date with the wrong person." She thought as she watched her vested knight disappear, never knowing her feelings for him. After Dipper had left Mabel and Grenda came rushing down to talk with Candy. "What happened, we saw you talk then get angry and then start to cry?!?" Grenda said in her most comforting, yet still unnaturally loud, voice.
Candy wiped her eyes and told them that Dipper was already going on a date with someone else. "WHAT, B...BUT...HOW?!? I NEVER THOUGHT HE COULD ACTUALLY GET A GIRL WITHOUT MY HELP!!!" Mabel said, a look of confusion, shock, horror, and guilt playing on her face at once, which Candy was mildly impressed by. "What is this world coming to if my brother can actually get a girl to like him without my help or screwing up on his own?!?"(wow, so much support)Then Mabel seemed to remember Candy. "I'm so sorry, but if it helps I don't think Dipper could ever pull off a good date without my expertise so you still have a shot." Mabel said reassuringly, but then Candy dashed those hopes. "Wendy was with him, he may not be able to plan a date but I'm sure she can." Candy said, the tears had quit flowing but her eyes were still red and her makeup was ruined.
"Come on, let's go get you some ice cream and maybe we'll find you some other guy to drool over." Grenda said positively, trying to lead Candy to the ice cream parlor. Candy was about to leave before Mabel grabbed her arm. "I don't think so ladies, I'm the best when it comes to matchmaking and this is one match I am determined to make. As God is my witness, you shall have you're man!" Mabel proclaimed in an outstanding manner making nearby people take notice. "How will you do that?" Candy wondered, doubtful of a possible answer. "I don't know, but give me time and I will come up with something." Mabel said, shrugging off her embarrassment.
After dropping her two friends off at their houses, Mabel went back to the Mystery Shack where she hoped to get some answers. She arrived(via the second cart)and saw Soos and Wendy loading up Soos's truck with building supplies and food items. "Hey, what's with all the stuff?" She asked once they finished. "Oh this is just for Dipper's date, who knew that we'd ever be planning for that?" Soos said in a joking manner. Mabel then got excited, wanting to know at least who had agreed to a date with Dipper. "Sooooooo, you wouldn't happen to know who he's going on a date with would you?" Mabel asked in her most nonchalant, yet still obvious, voice.
"Oh you wouldn't believe it dude, I didn't believe it when I first heard it. At first I couldn't stop laughing, then I knew it was serious, then I just kind of sat in silence." Soos went on before noticing Mabel's impatient expression. "Oh yeah, well Wendy said that he's-OW!!! Soos didn't finish as Wendy had whacked him over the head. "WHAT WAS THAT FOR?!?" Soos asked Wendy, she replied pointedly, ""I told you not to tell anyone, this is Dipper's thing and he should be the one to tell people!" Soos then went to start his truck, rubbing his head and mumbling.
"Look Mabel I know you're just looking out for Dipper but this is something that he should feel he wants to discuss on his own, trust me if you were in his shoes you'd feel the same way." Wendy said with finality, making Mabel pout. "Fine, but it won't stop me from pestering him about it." Mabel remarked, making Wendy chuckle. "Man I'm glad I didn't have a twin, we'd have killed each other a long time ago." Wendy said, and then she began to climb in back with the building supplies. "Hey if Dipper manages to come over tell him that we're on our way." Wendy said before they drove off. Mabel sighed and walked inside(M.C.Idiot in the house), deciding to wait for Dipper to get back whenever.
It wasn't long however, when Mabel heard tires on the dirt outside. She looked out the window and saw Dipper rushing into the shack. She then heard him racing up the steps and open the door, only to scream as Mabel was standing there. "What are you doing here, I thought you were still at the mall?!?" Dipper asked panicked, then looked at his watch and started to freak. "Never mind that actually I need to get ready!" He said frantically, taking one of his towels and heading to the bathroom. "What's the rush bro bro, you got a date?" Mabel asked, trying to pry info out of her brother in a subtle fashion. Dipper halted and turned around, "How did you..." Dipper began but Mabel cut him off, "A little birdie told me, but I want to know who it is!" Mabel was now bouncing giddily.
Dipper's expression went from fear, to shock, then finally to cocky in a matter of ten seconds. "Sorry Mabel but I'm not gonna tell, it's fun to watch you get mad when you're not kept in the loop. If you want answers then talk to Wendy." He said, then Mabel crossed her arms and stamped her foot like a little kid who didn't get a piece of candy from the store. "I tried but she said that I had to let you tell." Mabel said frustrated. "And rightly so but I'm still not gonna tell you," Dipper said before noticing Mabel's down expression, "Look Mabel just because I'm going on a date doesn't mean I'll forget about you, we're the Mystery Twins remember, I just needed to grow up at some point and get on with my life." Dipper said reassuringly, making Mabel smile.
"I can't believe that one summer changed my geek of a brother into someone I can't even recognize!" Mabel thought, then signed with defeat. "Well then you better get ready, LIKE NOW!" Mabel said pointing to her clock. Dipper then went bug eyed and rushed out of the room towards the bathroom but Mabel stopped him. "I'm helping you pick out an outfit." She said, making Dipper shudder. "I already have new clothes." He said trying to ward off his sister, but she was insistent. "Doesn't excuse the fact that you'll probably dress yourself mismatched and look like a clean hobo." Mabel joked which mad Dipper red in the face.
It took a combined total of eight minutes before Dipper was out the door, headed towards whatever destiny had in store. Mabel watched him leave then took out her little wood figurines of the townsfolk, keeping the mini figures of Candy and Dipper in her hands. "I was for sure I had this one nailed, but if he doesn't like Candy then who is it?" Mabel wondered, straining her brain until it hurt. "Grenda...no she's a little too forward; maybe Wendy...no that's been written off a long time ago; Lazy Sue?...bleeeeech I hope not!" Mabel was getting nowhere fast in trying to figure it out until she noticed one wood figurine had ended up on the floor. She reached over and picked it up to study it, then it seemed the entire world was just put on her shoulders. "It couldn't be, it just can't be!" She said trying not to believe it bit there was no denying it, everything was fitting into place.
Mabel stared down at the wooden figure of Pacifica Northwest, and said to herself, "This just got a hundred times harder."
