Dipper and Wendy were sitting inside the ice cream shop at the Pine Tree Mall. They had been been there for nearly an hour and yet still couldn't figure out how Dipper could be with Pacifica. Dipper hung his head not in disappointment or shame but in pure disbelief. Never in a million years would he have thought he'd be stressing over the Northwest daughter but here he was, and discussing it with his former crush no less.

"Typical," he exclaimed aloud. "What is?" Wendy asked, she had stopped eating her ice cream. The longer they had been there the more Wendy could feel that Dipper was getting more and more frustrated. Wendy knew that Dipper loved solving puzzles but it seemed like this was the only puzzle he couldn't solve and it was making him irritable. "I'm placed in a tight spot that I can't get out of, I'm chasing after something that may or may not be there, AND I'm going crazy from trying to process everything at once!" he said in an exasperated tone. Dipper began to question if he should be trying at all, he had gotten along well without liking Pacifica before, so how was this any different? 'The fact that you do like her now' The little voice in his head replied snarkily.

"Hey man don't talk like that, we'll figure it out don't worry." But in truth Wendy was stumped. She had no idea what would appeal to people like the Northwests. Wendy had grown up in a log cabin for her entire life, so she had never been pampered or waited on like Pacifica Northwest.

"What about this," Wendy started to explain "We get Pacifica to meet you in private, when you two meet we throw together a romantic candlelight dinner. Sound good?" Wendy cheerfully asked Dipper. In truth this was a scenario that Wendy hoped her potential Mr. Right would use. She had always been a tomboy/woodsman who enjoyed lumber sports, wrestling, and what was usually considered manly ventures but kept hoping that someone would come along one day to make her feel like a princess.(Tell anybody and she'll hang you upside down from a tall tree limb by nails in your jeans!)

Dipper looked up from his already melting ice cream. "First, with my luck something disastrous, paranormal, or straight up weird will happen." Dipper explained "Second, how the heck am I supposed to get Pacifica alone? I wouldn't be surprised if she had dozens of bodyguards following her at all times, plus there's her parents to think about."

Dipper was growing more and more depressed as he kept talking, the true reality hitting him like a semi-truck. Wendy had to agree that Dipper's luck was not the greatest but that didn't stop her from throwing some water in his face. "WHAT WAS THAT FOR?!?" Dipper spluttered.

Wendy made a sarcastic pouting face. "Because you're not even trying to get the girl you like, at least I'm throwing out suggestions for YOUR problem dude." Wendy exclaimed teasingly. Dipper looked up and began to smile. "What about I just take her on a simple picnic in the woods. No candlelight, no violins, nothing fancy, just a picnic date with some pb&j sandwiches. If she doesn't show then she's not the one. Simple right?" Dipper asked.

Wendy put on a thinking face. "You know, most people go on dates with people doing stuff they'll both enjoy." She said. Wendy wasn't sure that Pacifica would go for something that plain and ordinary, and she was sure Dipper had just given up. "No listen," Dipper started to explain, setting his melted ice cream in the trash can "If I truly want to be with Pacifica and she truly likes me then she'll agree to the picnic. If not then it's just not meant to be, plain and simple." Dipper exclaimed happily. "Well, if you're sure about this Dipper." Wendy said hesitantly but happily that Dipper was finally making an effort.

"Awesome," Dipper said excitedly before seeming to remember something, "I'm also going to bring that shard of the "Truth Stone" with me." Wendy wasn't liking where this was going. "Why?" She asked hesitantly. "When I talked to Pacifica back in the shack she was being very vague and mysterious and I want to know why." Dipper stated firmly. "Have you ever considered that she has her reasons for keeping secrets?" Wendy asked in vain. She knew that once Dipper's mind was set on something he was very determined, such as in his attempts to be with her. "Alright then," Wendy finally said with resolve. "I just hope this doesn't blow up in our faces."
