8:00 p.m.
The people of the town were still trickling into the party, all dressed up in their own forms of fancy clothing. It was generally a nice atmosphere, everyone was laughing, smiling, and talking amongst themselves. Occasionally some would place a donation in the box for the charity service and the people would thank them for their consideration. Over all it was a huge turn out, and everyone couldn't wait for the entertainment and the food to be put out.
Mabel was currently sitting at a table set farther away from the party goers. She wore a black cocktail dress with a couple of pink zig zagging patterns across the bottom, and a pair of black spike heels which greatly accented her red painted toenails. She has already been asked by a couple of guys if she was single but she didn't talk much. She had too many problems on her mind to deal with to be social. "Dammit, why does all the complicated stuff have to involve me, can't I get a break?!?" She whispered to herself. Candy and Pacifica were both weighing in her mind, should she break the heart of the snooty rich girl who always put her down, or should she break the heart of her best friend? She thought this decision would be an open and shut case but it wasn't...all because of Dipper.
She knew Dipper never gave her an answer, but she could tell from the look on his face after he returned from his date. He loved Pacifica, and she knew that no amount of love potion from any love god could reverse that. Mabel looked up and saw a man walking towards her. He looked to be almost in his twenties, sort of tall with the typical nerdy look of large black, plastic frame glasses, a plaid button up shirt with a brown tweed jacket, dark blue straight legged jeans, and a pair of black and white Converse shoes.
"I...uh...noticed you from across the room, are you-" the man was saying before Mabel held up a finger, cutting him off. "I think we both know what the answer is, no I'm not interested in a date or in you. Besides, I'm a little too young for you anyways." Mabel said all without blinking. The man raised an eyebrow, then chuckled. "What's so funny?" Mabel asked, both confused and annoyed that this guy probably wasn't getting the message. "I'm sorry, I guess some random guy approaching a girl at a party is a pretty universal sign that the male wants to get into the girl's pants." He explained with a dopey grin on his face.
When the guy noticed Mabel wasn't laughing he stopped and extended his hand in a serious fashion. "My name is Mark-Anthony Thompson from the University of Michigan, and I am a major in the field of supernatural studies." Mark-Anthony said with pride, but when he looked at Mabel she was still confused. "I study ghosts and monsters." He explained. "I knew that!" Mabel said in a huffy fashion, "So Mark, why are you bothering me again?" Mabel asked, clearly still not happy about her own problems.
Mark then had a look of realization cross his face, which made Mabel giggle to herself. "Oh yes, why I'm here. Well aren't you one of the Mystery Twins, the very same who stopped that false psychic Gideon and who is on the cover of Paranormal Monthly with her brother Dipper Pines?" Mark then pulled out a magazine that looked more like something Mabel's brother would read. Sure enough, Mabel recognized a picture of her and Dipper that Toby had taken shortly after they had solved the mystery of the ghost bicycle, don't ask.
"Oh wow, I didn't know we had fans outside of Gravity Falls! So...what, do you want an autograph?" Mabel asked, still clearly annoyed by Mark's presence. "No autograph necessary, I am an avid anime enthusiast and I was wondering if I could interview you and your brother for the chance to be in your own anime series!" He said excitedly.
Mabel raised an eyebrow, took a sip of her punch, then said "Sorry pal but you're a little late on that one, some guy already asked us if we wanted to have a cartoon series made about us, I think his name was Alex...Hirsch or something like that. Anyway apparently he's working on it but the sad thing is he's making me and my brother like 12, plus apparently I'm supposed to be this over peppy girl with braces who loves sweaters...I don't get it." Mabel explained, taking another sip from her glass.
