A girl raced through the forest, breathing heavily as arrows whizzed over her head. She cursed under her breath and pushed harder, trying to throw whoever was chasing her, off.
But luck didn't seem to be on her side, because she came up to a cliff that went way over her head.
Cursing mildly, she looked around but couldn't think of anything as she heard the sound of hoofs get louder, until they stopped behind her.
"Well would ya look at this!" One guy shouted to his lackeys. She glared at them with a dangerous aura surrounding her.
"If only I had listened to mother and father.."
She gritted her teeth, but took out her machete anyway.
"I'm not going down without a fight!" She spat and lunged at one, but to her surprise, all the men fell dead before she even touched one. When she inspected closely, she noticed an arrow sticking out from one man's back.
"You had a pretty big handful there, eh?" A voice called from above, and she looked up the cliff to see a boy standing on the top. He was charming with beautiful green eyes, and jet black hair. Anyone could've mistaken the boy for the king of the humans, but that wasn't the case.
He jumped down, and landed in front of her.
"Colt, at your service." He winked at her, and she narrowed her eyes. He offered a hand to shake, but she didn't take it.
"I could've handled them, you know." She growled deep in her throat, and he rose an eyebrow.
"Yeah, it totally looked like it." He said with his voice dripping with sarcasm.
"Who do you think you are?!" She spat, his cockiness only fueling her anger.
He slipped his bow over his shoulder, and bowed slightly.
"Colt. I'm the Prince of the human kingdom. And if memory serves me well, I assume you're the princess of the Catori?" He asked, and she scoffed. For a moment, she couldn't believe she met the prince. But she pushed away that admiration quickly.
"Yes. And stop talking so high and mighty." She curled her lip, and he laughed softly.
"If you wish princess. Which reminds me. What is a princess like you hunting? You get served meals three times a day by servants, right?" He asked, and she rose an eyebrow.
"I want to help out my village though. It's also fun to go hunting. Besides, it gives me a break from my father who keeps trying to train me." She huffed, and he smiled slightly.
"Well, whatever. I must be going. If I remember correctly, there will be a grand ball soon, hosted by my father. The Catori are invited too. I'm sure your more than willing to come?" He asked, and she thought about ten reasons on why she wouldn't want to come. But she bit her tongue, and shrugged.
"I must be going then, be seeing you, princess." Colt said smoothly, and stepped over the men and walked in the direction of the human kingdom.
"Be seeing you..? Hah right. I don't want to go." The girl mumbled, as she stared at the men. They were rebels. Surprisingly, the rebels have been attacking the Catori and humans a lot lately. Not only that, but in an organized manner too. If that's what you'd call it anyway.
She shook her head, and began her trek home, before her parents flipped on her going to the Renegade's territory alone.
