I twirled a dagger in my hands as I stared at the moon outside. It was gorgeous and full. Bright and beautiful.
I rested a hand against my eyepatch, and I sighed softly. If only I could be just as bright.
Glancing over at the rapier on my bed, I walked over to it and grabbed it and took the sheath off. How come everything looks so pretty except for me? Even this rapier gleaming, looked even nicer than me.
I heard a knock on my door and I immediately sheathed it and put it against the wall.
"Yeah?" I asked, and my father cautiously walked in, obviously expecting me to be with Spruce, and I laughed.
"Don't worry dad, I'm alone." I reassured him, and he straightened himself, before his gaze became serious.
"I want you to do a little mission with me. It was said that there's wolves out in the forest causing a panic to the children in the village. A wolf even injured one kid." He explained, and excitement filled me.
"Okay!" I said, and grabbed my rapier and tied it to my belt.
My father went to his room and came out in his black clothing, and his sword in bandages. We went out to our horses without conversation, and we rode off into the night, sticking close to each other.
What I didn't expect was something to fly past me and hit a nearby tree. The horse reared back, and I fell to the ground, trying to regain my breath, since it was all pushed out of me when I hit the unsuspecting ground.
"Harmony!" My dad shouted, and immediately pulled a kunai from his sleeve, and hit the person in the bushes. They fell to the ground in a loud thump.
He rushed over to me, but suddenly, I felt incredibly dizzy, and sick all at once.
"Wh-What's going on?" I asked him as he fell in front of me, holding his head and wincing.
"I don't know." He groaned. I knew we were about to get our answer when a few figures appeared.
"Ambush.." My father spat, as he hit the ground with his fist, and I struggled to get up and look, but a foot on my back pushed my chest back down.
"Garbage belongs under my boot." An annoyingly girly but creepy voice spoke to me, and I gritted my teeth as I rested my chin on the ground.
"Cassidy!" I snarled, and I felt her foot kick me before she walked over to my dad.
"Hello Lucas. It's been far too long since we've seen each other." I widened my eyes at them, how Cassidy bended over my father, and smirked at him. He glared up at her with a fire in his red eyes.
"Yeah, I was starting to get over the damage you put on me and my wife." He growled with venom, and Cassidy narrowed her eyes, as if he hit a sore spot, and by the look in his eyes, it seems he was trying to.
"Ah yes, Aiyana is your wife." Cassidy spoke darkly, practically spitting out my mother's name. I began to wonder what in the world happened with the three.
"It seems everyone has gotten over the war. How disgusting. How can humans side with disgusting animals?" She asked as she grabbed my cat ear, and pulled it hard. I flinched, and gritted my teeth as my dad shouted at her to stop.
"It's because we're not different at all! We all have the same goal." He said, as he crawled over to me and pulled me behind him, getting in between me and Cassidy.
"Oh, and what would that be?" Cassidy asked as she smirked at him.
"Survive and conquer this world." He growled, and I felt another wash of dizziness fall over us again. I finally realized the light burning on my skin, it was magic. Cassidy was simply using a crystal on us.
"Hah! I bet all those catori want is to feast on the humans corpses!" She cried out, and I frowned at my father's puzzled look.
"Well I can safely say I'm a catori, and I've never had a thought of doing that." He said, and Cassidy grabbed the collar of his shirt, and pulled him up so they were eye level.
"Let's not forget Lucas. You're not a real catori. You have human blood in you, and you always will." She said. I blinked, and she dropped Lucas, and smirked at me.
"I thought of so many ways to hurt you, to break you and your precious wife from the inside out. Well torturing would do, but then I heard about your cute little daughters." Lucas looked confused when she made it plural.
"Daughters?" He asked, and Cassidy gave him a crazed grin.
"Ah yes, you've been in the shadows this entire time. Heck, I think even your wife has been kept in the dark. Well let me help you." She said, and I struggled to get up.
"What are you talking about?" I demanded. I had a sister? Who?
Cassidy crouched down in front of my father, showing him a lot, but he paid no attention to it, and stared deeply into her eyes.
"Kaliska." She said simply, and the raven haired man looked confused for a couple moments, before realization clouded his eyes.
"H-How..? Kaliska is older than Harmony which means.."
"Which means Aiyana had the kid before Harmony was born." She interupted.
"But.." He tried, but was far too confused.
"Makes me wonder if she had the child while she was with you.." She said quietly, and I realized what Cassidy was trying to do.
"My mother would never cheat on my father!" I shouted, and dug my fingers into the dirt. Lucas's ears lowered as he thought hard, but I could tell he was just so confused.
"Harmony we need to go see your mother." He whispered, and I shook my head.
"No, she won't know. We need to talk to Kaliska, peacefully." I added, just in case there was some secret rage burning inside of him. He nodded, and glared up at Cassidy.
"I know that Aiyana would never cheat on me. Even if she did, I know she'd have a good reason for it. Screw off." He spat at Cassidy, and she 'hmfed' before she got up, and used a teleportation crystal to leave. Almost instantly, I felt the magic leave the atmosphere around us.
Breathing out in relief, I sat up.
"Are you okay?" My father asked as he checked me over, fear in his eyes.
"Yeah I'm okay. How about you?" I asked, and he nodded.
"Let's go find her then." I said, and we climbed onto our horses and rode off to Kaliska's village. What shocked me was how much damage that happened in this once peaceful and pretty village. I asked a villager, and they pointed me to Kaliska's house. When we knocked, a man answered, and told us Kaliska was in her room. We walked, and when we knocked on her door, we entered to find Colt and Kaliska on her bed. We all stared at each other without speaking or moving, before my father reclosed the door slowly, and smacked his forehead on it.
"How do I keep walking into these things?" He exclaimed, and I laughed loudly. A few minutes after shifting around in the room, Kaliska finally opened the door, and Colt was gone but the window was suspiciously open.
"Yes?" She asked, obviously a little frustrated that we interupted her.
"Um we'd like to ask about your parents." I said, and Kaliska's eyes widened, before she nodded and let us into the room.
I sat down beside my father, and waited for her to start explaining.
