I sat with Kaliska in my arms and I breathed in her comforting scent and sighed in content. It's been far too long since I've felt like this. Sadly, I had to end the moment when I remembered I was already married.
"Kaliska.. What do I do about Hiroko?" I asked quietly, and Kaliska smiled at me.
"Just tell her that you're divorcing her." She said, and I instantly shook my head.
"I can't do that. She'll call on her own army and try to take my kingdom down. I won't allow unnecessary bloodshed." I said and I saw sadness flash in her eyes.
"Then I guess we can never marry then, can we?" She asked as she pulled herself from my arms.
I tried to reach out to her but I stopped, feeling torn apart.
"Kaliska I love you more than anything. But I can't simply let people die because I wanted to love." I said regretfully, and I stared at my feet. Not wanting to get emotional but it was becoming hard.
"Then don't let them die! You're some type of hero with all you're crystals, right? Then protect them!" She exclaimed and I scoffed silently.
"I can't keep an entire city safe Kaliska. I'm not that strong." I snapped. We both stayed silent for a couple moments, until Kaliska grabbed my cheeks and made me face her.
"Then don't try it all on your own. With both Catori kingdoms working with yours, nobody can beat us." She said and I stared up at her.
"But.. I don't want to start a war.. We already had one in the past and Cassidy has been silent recently except for a couple terrorist and robberies. Beyond the point, I don't want Cassidy getting involved with this equation either. I'll try to work something out, but until then, I'm keeping this city safe by.. staying married." The words tasted like bile on my tongue and Kaliska seemed to realize because she kissed me and smiled sadly.
"Such an honorable prince you are." She teased softly and I hugged her.
"I promise, once this is all over, we'll get married." I swore and she nodded before she decided she was going to go back to her own home since she's regained her memory.
I watched her fade into the darkening forest and I rubbed my forehead with my fingers.
"Now what do I do.." I murmured. Just as I was going to walk inside, a loud explosion came from below and shook the ground. I lost my balance and crashed to the ground.
A couple screams echoed through the air and adrenaline pumped through my mind as I bolted to the side of the platform I was standing on and gazed over the edge.
Smoke was rising from a huge hole in the wall and I clenched my fists.
"Figures she'd strike now." I cursed silently and raced through the castle. Maids and servants ran past me, screaming for their life as renegades ran down the hallway towards them.
I found myself defenseless as one bashed into me. I accidentally scraped my arm on the guy's sword and I hissed as I kicked them in the stomach and sent them off me.
I rolled away and leaned against a wall for a moment to assess the newly created wound. It wasn't deep, but blood was trickling down my arm quickly. I covered it for a moment before I glared at the renegade that bashed into me, but stopped when I recognized who it was.
She had pretty pink hair and a soft face. Her eyes were completely blank though.
I recall her knocking me out when Cassidy kidnapped me last time. I couldn't remember her name though. Pity.
