"Like hell I'm going to stay!" I growled as I turned into a panther, and ran after Spruce, but made sure to stay silent and follow. It was almost like he knew right where he was going. I narrowed my eye in suspicion, and followed. He was going straight to a old building in the middle of no where.
I saw him enter, and I transformed back to my human self. I hated walking on hard floor in panther form.
"Where is she?" I heard Spruce shout, and I saw light coming from a room ahead. I crept over to it and peeked through. I saw Spruce talking to Cassidy. Cassidy sat on what seemed like a large sofa. It was fancy, to say the least.
"Whatever do you mean?" Cassidy asked with innocence, and smirked at Spruce who gritted his teeth.
"Where is Kaliska, Cassidy? I'm not going to ask again!" To prove his point, he pulled out his sword and pointed it at her. She only laughed loudly.
"You shouldn't do that, Spruce." She said, and suddenly people appeared from the shadows in the room and surrounded him. His gaze narrowed and he got into a defensive stance.
"Hey.." A voice whispered from behind, and I jumped. I tore my gaze away from the scene in front, and whirled around to see green glowing eyes.
"Colt?" I hissed quietly, and he nodded apologetically.
"Sorry. I didn't know how to approach you without scaring you though." He said, and I blinked before I looked back at Spruce.
"What is he doing here?" Colt scoffed quietly.
"Trying to save Kaliska." I murmured quietly to him, and his gaze sharpened as he pulled his black glossy bow off his shoulder.
"I know that, but he's right in the middle of the trap. He's losing his touch." He whispered as he readied an arrow, and shot a man in the head. He fell, and I blinked with surprise when a second passed, the rest of the men laid on the ground, bleeding from the head. Colt smirked and tried to shoot Cassidy, but he wasn't aiming for her head. Instead, he shot her in the arm.
"You'd better listen to my brother Cassidy. We don't play around." Colt said calmly as he walked out from the shadows. I followed, and my eyes widened at the accuracy of everything.
"Harmony? I thought I told you to stay." Spruce said as he frowned at me. I rolled my eyes, and put my hands on my hips.
"I. Don't. Care." I said each word with laziness.
Colt had an arrow aimed at Cassidy while we spoke, and she managed to pull the bloody arrow out of her arm.
"I'll kill you!" She spat, and a second later, there was an arrow hitting the ground beside her head, and actually nicked her ear. Her breathing held as she glared at Colt.
"Answer. Now." He spat, his neutral expression gone. Now a green fire lit from his eyes.
Cassidy looked towards the shadows, and she gave a small nod. Suddenly, Kaliska was thrown into the light, beaten and unconscious.
Colt immediately raced over to her, and Spruce followed.
"Kaliska?!" Colt cried out as he crouched over her and was checking her. Anger bubbled in my stomach, and I whirled on Cassidy who was getting to her feet, and struggling to get out while she was losing blood quickly from her arm.
Colt turned on her and rage filled his eyes, and he stormed over and pushed her over. I was shocked by his violent actions, but said nothing. Spruce didn't wait though.
"Colt stop!" He commanded and rushed forward. When he put a hand on Colt's shoulder, he whirled around and snarled and slapped him on the face. Spruce fell back, and Colt whirled around back at the blonde haired girl that was trying to crawl away.
Colt raised his arrow, using it like a sword, he stabbed it into her leg and she cried out loudly.
"Colt stop this immediately!" Spruce shouted louder, getting over his shock quickly, and rushed to his brother and held his arms together and restrained him. I watched some men walk out and help Cassidy out, using a teleportation crystal.
I turned to the mess behind me, and frowned.
"Why is he so mad?" I asked, and Spruce shook his head sadly as he struggled to keep Colt in his arms as the smaller struggled.
"He gets extremely protective of people close to him." He explained, before he hit him on the back of the neck with enough force to knock him out. I watched with worry, before I looked at Kaliska.
"She needs help. Quick, let's get her to the human kingdom. It's closer." I said, and we both rode out on Spruce's horse once we found our way out of the building.
---
I stared at the bed that Kaliska laid in, still unconscious. Spruce sat beside me, and we both watched her.
"Spruce?" I whispered and looked at him. He hummed and looked over at me.
"What's going on? What does Cassidy want?" I asked quietly and lowered my head.
"I honestly don't know.. I thought she just wanted the crystal for eternal beauty and to stay young forever, but now it seems she wants more. I just can't figure out what.." Spruce said and I gripped my hands tighter.
"What she's doing is selfless and confusing." I mumbled, and Spruce rested a hand on my shoulder.
"It'll be alright.. I promise." He swore, and I looked up at him and smiled.
"Thanks." I said, but then looked back at Kaliska in concern.
