I twirled in my bedroom, thinking that this might've been my happiest day yet. I got to sleep in, my parents weren't loud and cranky, and I've got a boyfriend!
I giggled and fell on my bed and rested a hand on my forehead.
But then my smile faded and instead I frowned at the ceiling. Spruce told me what happened in Kaliska's poor village. She got attacked and lots of people died. I felt so sorry for her. I couldn't imagine that happening in my village because it's just so horrific.
I turned my hand into a fist, and glared at the ceiling. How dare Cassidy do this! Is she trying to start another war? I've heard tales about the intense war that went on over a decade ago. My mother and father played big roles in it after all. I heard a small rapping on my window, and I sat up and looked to see a guy there. He had strong cheekbones, gorgeous onyx eyes, and soft brown hair that looked easy to comb. I rose an eyebrow. I instantly didn't trust him. Why should I? He randomly shows up at my window, asking to come in at late at night?
I narrowed my gaze and grabbed my rapier, and hid it behind my back as I slowly opened the window. The guy tumbled in, panting loudly as if he had just ran to the renegades territory and back.
"Th-Thank god." He said weakly, and I looked him over. He had a nice build, but his clothes were torn, and had lots of scratches and bruises. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if he passed out from blood loss or something! He barely looks conscious already.
"Harmony?" My mother asked from outside, and I froze.
"Uhh yeah mom?" I asked, opening the door a tiny bit, so she could see me but not the male.
"What are you doing? I thought I heard voices." My mother looked worried, and I cheerfully smiled through my own worry.
"It's fine. I was just talking to myself. When I do, it makes me feel safe." I easily lied, and my mother ran a hand through her hair and nodded and walked down the hallway.
I whirled around and looked at the guy. When I took a closer look, his hair was greasy and matted, and he looked a little younger. Maybe ten or something."
"Hey are you alright?" I asked as I helped sit him up.
"OW!' He shrieked as my hand touched his back, and squirmed away. I immediately moved my hand, and stared at him in concern.
"My name is Harmony, would you like some help?" I asked gently, and he stared at me in fear.
"Uh..." He murmured, and shuddered. I could understand it was hard for him to trust me. After all, he just met me!
"I-I'm sorry.." He mumbled, and his eyelids slowly closed, and he fell over slightly, and his breathing evened.
With him out, and seems like he was in a deep sleep, I took the chance to address his wounds.
When I pulled off his shirt, I hadn't expected it to be so bad..
There were long whip marks that were deep and seemed to be infected. They ran all over his front and back. He had dark purple bruises, and not to mention burns. What in the world happened to this poor kid?!
I noticed a tattoo on his arm. It was interesting because I've never seen it before. It was almost formed like a spikey heart, but not quite. It was also as black as his eyes..
I sighed, and got him up onto my bed, and shook my head softly. I walked to my bathroom, and grabbed disinfectant, some bandages, and such. When I came back, the male was still fast asleep, snoring lightly now.
I dabbed the disinfectant, and he whimpered loudly.
"Shh it's alright." I whispered, and continued. His eyes finally snapped open, and he rolled away.
"Please no more Mistress!" He cried out, and I blinked in surprise and even dropped the cloth that I was using.
He stared at me until his gaze cleared, and he hugged his knees.
"I'm sorry.. I thought you were someone else." He mumbled, and I smiled through my curiosity.
"Look it's fine. I want to clean your wounds though. Do you mind? It'll be a lot worse if I don't do so." I said, and silently thought 'they actually don't look like they could get much worse really..'
He stared at me, before he relaxed and showed me the wounds. I continued my work and tried to ignore him hissing lightly, and when I finished, I bandaged him quickly, and put the stuff away.
"I think we should change your bandages tomorrow, just in case." I said as I walked back in.
He was staring at himself in the mirror, his eyes so wide they looked like they could pop out of his head. I laughed slightly, and walked over.
"I look so much like her.." He said quietly in disgust, and then looked at me and weakly smiled.
"Thank you so much.." He said, and I rested a hand on his shoulder.
"No problem. If you'd like, you could have a shower, and then go to sleep in my bed." I offered, and he looked away shyly.
"But then where would you sleep?" He asked, and I smiled.
"I don't really need to sleep right now. I'm not that tired." I said, and he nodded and walked to the shower. I listened to the water run as I looked out the window. When the boy walked back out, I smiled at him. But then realized he might need some clothes. Mine might not work because they're mostly meant for females, so I asked my father if he had any old clothes.
"Why?" He asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Uh because I want to do some art with them." I said, and he handed me a gray shirt and some leather pants. I took them back to my room, and handed them to the boy.
"They might be a little big, and uncomfortable to sleep in, so I'm sorry." I said as I turned away and let him change.
"They're not too bad.." He said, and I turned and smiled, although the leggings went a little past his feet, he rolled them up.
"What's your name by the way?" I asked, and he looked at me.
"Kiriya." He said, and then his eyes narrowed.
"What happened to your eye?" He asked, and I winced slightly.
"Sorry if it's sensitive." He immediately said, and I shook my head.
"No, a woman named Cassidy did this to me." I explained, and he visibly flinched, and his gaze saddened.
"Not you too.." He murmured, so quietly it was hard to tell if he even said that. I rose an eyebrow, and asked what he meant, but he was already getting into bed.
"Uh, good night Kiriya." I said and turned off the light.
