I rolled a pencil up and down the desk, watching it boredly. My brother had decided to leave when Kaliska had left. God knows where they went.
I groaned and leaned back in my chair, and looked at my drawings. I wonder if my designs even make sense..
I looked at my black, glossy bow leaning against the wall near my bed, and I walked over to it and ran a hand along it.
"Hey Colt, I got you an early birthday present!" My father said as he walked in, holding something behind his back. I rose an eyebrow.
"Haven't I told you to knock before entering father? Honestly, it should be the other way around!" I said as I calmly stood up and walked over to him, and calmly rested my hands behind my back. He rubs his head, and gives a look that says 'what-can-you-do?'
I try to look over his shoulder, but I didn't need to. A second later, he shoves a new quiver filled with arrows, to me.
"Huh?" I stare at the quiver. It had a beautiful red and black design, running smooth patterns over the leather.
I glance at my other quiver that was hanging on the chair.
"I already have a quiver though." I said as I looked back at my father, who was grinning widely.
"Yeah but this is better! These arrows are infused with crystal power." He explained, and my jaw fell open as I pulled an arrow out. The tip of it was a light, faded blue.
"Now don't touch the arrow heads! This quiver is important because it can hold the arrows without it melting because of the power." My father explained as I looked at the different arrows. They all had different colors to them.
"Now, be careful with these arrows. They could have some very strong effects." He was explaining, but I wasn't listening as I grabbed my long coat, and put it over myself. I grabbed my new quiver and bow, and smiled at my father.
"I know. After all, you used my design." I said as I rushed past him, excited to use my new arrows at the shooting range.
When I got there, the manager offered me a bow and arrows, but I told them that I had my own.
I now stood in front of a target, and narrowed my gaze. It was pretty far really. So far, that some would be thrown off. Luckily, I'm farsighted.
I grabbed a red arrow, and loaded it. I could feel the magic coming from the arrow head, and it made my fingers tingle a little. I pulled back the bowstring, and let the arrow fly.
When it shot through the air, it had a red trail, and hit the target right in the middle. Except, what I didn't expect was the entire target to split in two and set on fire!
"Fire!!" The manager shrieked and raced for a bucket of water.
Quickly, I grabbed the faded light blue arrow, and shot it at the flames. Of course the arrow went through the flames, but hit the wall behind it. Instantly, ice covered the flames and a loud sizzling noise came from the scene. The person raced back, only to drop the bucket in shock.
"H-How..?" He asked as he looked at me.
"Um.. I promise I'll pay for all the damage that was done. The problem was solved though." I said sincerely, and quickly left.
I studied the arrows, and frowned. They were mostly natural elemnts but there were a couple of other ones.. Like poison, and nightmare. Nightmare was one where you could send the hit person into it's own darkest nightmares and thoughts. It was often traumatizing. I don't enjoy using it.
I also had sleep, shock, and others.
I went to the forest, and decided to practice there, since I didn't want another accident. But I stayed away from the fire arrows, not wanting a forest fire of course.
When I was about to shoot, something caught my gaze though. The bushes were moving, and I instantly drew the arrow, and narrowed my gaze at the bush, hiding slightly behind a tree.
A man emerged, and shouted out a name.
"Kiriya!" I frowned, and shot the tree beside the man. I immediately readied another arrow when he stopped and looked at me. I aimed at him, and carefully walked forward.
"Who is this Kiriya you speak of?" I ask, seeing that he's clearly a man working for Cassidy.
"Kiriya is the brat I was baby sitting." He growled, and I rise an eyebrow.
"More info." I say. I don't really want to help him, but the way he's speaking, it sounds like he's talking about a child, and I'd never forgive myself if I let a child die.
"He's got blonde hair and black eyes. Sorta odd kid. He's ten years old." He explained, and I nod.
"Very well, I shall look for him. I'm not doing it for you or Cassidy though." I said, and turned away.
Bad mistake though, I was shoved into the dirt, and felt the bow slip from my hands. I gritted my teeth, and struggled.
"Imagine the reward I'll get if I bring back her son and one of the two princes!" The man was muttering, and I wasn't sure if I heard him correctly. I struggled harder, and he got me to my feet. I quickly twisted, and kicked him hard behind his knees, and he fell.
I quickly grabbed my bow and raced off towards the kingdom, not stopping once until I reached the human kingdom.
I walked until I found my brother standing there, talking to Harmony.
What caught my full attention was the boy with them. He had straight, but short blonde hair, and when he looked at me, I looked at his black eyes.
I instantly knew that was him, and I walked over and smiled. No way was I going to hand an innocent child over to Cassidy!
Spruce looked at me, and then noticed the new quiver, and started pestering me immediately about it.
"Quit it!" I shoved him away, and he was complaining about how his sword should be stronger.
