I stared at the sword that hung on my wall. I sat up on my bed, and sighed. I hate going to balls. Now I have another reason. Obviously, they're never going to be peaceful.
"Harmony?" I heard my mother knock on my door, and soon opened it. I looked towards her.
"Yeah?" I asked.
"You didn't get hurt, did you? You didn't speak to us once after the ball." My mother came and sat beside me, and began to comb my hair with her fingers. I shook my head slightly, and flinched when she pulled on a knot.
"Sorry." She smiled, and I looked back at the sword.
"Are you and father okay?" I asked, and she chuckled softly.
"Yeah. I always carry my machete under my clothes just in case." She explained, and I nodded in understanding. It was hard to be royalty and go into public.
Tonight was just a prime example why.
I fell back on my bed, and my mother stood up.
"Mom, how come we don't have a huge castle like the humans?" I asked, and she looked towards me.
"Do you want to live in a big castle?" She asked, and I looked over at her.
"I dunno."
"Well ask your father about it. He used to live in that very same castle." She smiled, and I smiled to myself. It was still weird to think that father was once a human, fighting against my mother.
I closed my eyes, and prepared myself for the dreams to come.
---
It was a peaceful night. Or it seemed that way. I was riding my black horse through the forest, except everything seemed illusional. It didn't even feel like the horse's hooves touched the ground!
I paid no attention to it though. But when the horse veered back suddenly onto it's back hooves, I fell off, and hit the ground hard. I looked ahead to see what made the horse so spooked. I stopped breathing in horror.
I saw the brothers of the human kingdom laying in their own puddles of blood. One of the brothers was holding a black, shiny bow. While the other brother was holding a beautiful great sword, covered in blood.
I slowly tore my gaze away to see Kaliska leanig against a tree, with what looks like her neck was slit. She wasn't moving.
I tried moving forward, but suddenly I found every movement was getting harder and harder. I looked down and screamed, but no sound came out. I was in what seemed like was a blood lake.
I struggled and struggled, but the blood got thicker and redder. Suddenly, a woman stood on the side of the lake, watching me. Her head was tilted to a side, but lowered so I couldn't see her eyes over her blonde curls.
She walked forward, and strode through the blood like it was nothing, and I tried to get away, feeling a murderous aura about her.
When she reached me, she grabbed my sword that was tied to my belt, and held it towards my stomach. She finally lifted her eyes, and I shuddered with horror at the crazed maniac look in her eyes.
"The throne should've gone to ME!" I found my own blade, plunged into myself, and I could almost feel the pain.
I fell backwards, and she stood over me.
She stabbed me again, and I found myself falling into the suddenly deep lake of blood. My blood was only adding to the supply.
I looked up at the fading light as I fell deeper..deeper.. And deeeper..
---
I jolted awake, and nearly screamed at the pain that still remained in my abdomen. I clutched it, but found the pain fading away.
I stood up, and looked out the window. It was nearing dawn. Probably four or five o'clock in the morning.
I looked at myself. I was drenched in sweat, and my hair was a complete mess from me rolling around in my bed.
"What was that dream?' I murmured as I opened a window and welcomed the fresh, cool air into my stuffy room.
I turned around and grabbed the sword from the wall, and grabbed my belt. I had no chance of sleeping again. So I guess I should do something with my time.
I jumped out the window once I got ready, and I landed on the ground down below. My feet stung for a moment because they were still half asleep, but I progressed to the stables anyway.
I stopped short when I remembered in my dream, I was out in the forest, on my black horse when I met all the blood.
I shook my head, and turned away.
I sneaked out of the village, and went into the forest. It was a silent night. The birds were just waking up.
I looked around sleepily, and yawned quietly.
"What are you doing out here at this hour?" I heard a voice, and I turned to see Colt standing there. His face neutral, and his body features calm.
"I could be asking you the same thing." I growled.
He simply shrugged, and walked past me.
"I'm just going on a walk." He said over his shoulder, and I narrowed my gaze. How suspicious.
"What do you think happened last night?" I asked, and he looked at me and stopped.
"I'm not entirely sure. Could be a couple idiots trying to take over my fathers kingdom by trying to take hostage of every person they could find." He guessed, and I slowly nodded.
Was my dream really just a dream?
"Do you need to talk about something?" He asked, and I looked at his calm, calculating gaze. He could obviously read my expression that I was worked up.
"I had a dream." I confessed, and leaned against a tree.
"A dream?" He instantly seemed interested, and turned to me with his hands in his pockets. He was still wearing a fine suit.
"Yeah.. I had a dream where I was out in the forest with my horse, and I suddenly found you, your brother, and Kaliska all dead.. I was suddenly in a lake of blood, and then a lady came forward and stabbed me a couple times. But she told me that the throne belongs to her."
I could see the trouble in his gaze as he thought hard about it.
"Did she possibly have blonde, curly hair?" He asked randomly, and I felt surprised, and nodded.
I heard his breath hitch a note, and he nodded slowly.
"Please get back to your village then. It's not safe out here. Especially when we just had an attack. I need to consult with my father about this." He said, and begun to walk off towards the castle.
"Wait!" I called, and he stopped and looked at me.
"Yes?" I squirmed under his piercing gaze, obviously impatient now.
"Could we be friends? I don't have many at the village." I asked shyly. He smiled friendly, and nodded.
"Of course." He said, and then disappeared in the shadows in not even five seconds.
I stood there for a couple seconds, and smiled to myself.
I turned to the village, and walked back. When I reached it, the early birds of the village were beginning to start their day.
I walked to my house, and climbed through my window and sat down on my bed after I put my sword back up on the wall and took my belt off.
I felt tired now, but I still didn't want to go back to sleep. The nightmare was still fresh in my mind.
