Something was wrong. I had already searched for Kaliska, but I couldn't find her anywhere. It didn't help that I had to be back by dinner time. My dad was enforcing his rule this time.
I paced back and forth in my room. The sun had already gone down, but my bad feelung was leaving a bad lump in my stomach that I couldn't ignore.
"Ughh I can't sit here and wait for Kaliska to break out her own! What if she can't?!" I asked myself, and I stormed out of my room, grabbing my bow and arrows while I did. But when I opened my door, I was face to face with my father.
"Father!" I exclaimed as tried to hide my bow, but he shook his head.
"Colt, your injuries are far too severe for you to go out tonight." I had noticed that my father was speaking loudly, and I looked over his shoulder to see down the hall, my brother standing there.
I understood the twinkle and the wink from my father's eye, and he pushed me into the room. As soon as he closed the door, he rounded on me.
"Listen, we found Kaliska. There's some tests being run on her. We don't know what but I didn't send any guards in yet. That's where you come in. I want you to lead them in there. You know silence and I know you'd fight harder for Kaliska. Alright?" My father spoke quietly, and with a very serious tone. My heart leaped when I heard they found Kaliska, but only felt it drown when the "testing" part came up.
I narrowed my gaze, and nodded.
"Okay, here. You're brother isn't coming because he actually does have injuries, and he must be tired after training Harmony." My father said as he handed me a pouch of crystals. I looked through the glowing crystals.
"Paralysis.. Sleep.. Fly.. Strength.. And what's this one?" I asked as I held up a green glowing crystal.
"Speed." My father said, and he took it out of my ahnds, and aimed the magic at me. Instantly, I felt like I could run through the entire world.
"Use it to get to Kaliska. The guards are expecting you." He said as he handed me a map.
I nodded, and raced out of my room, but didn't see Spruce standing in the hallway still, and crashed into him.
"Sorry Brother!" I called as I quickly regained my balance, and raced out of the castle, barely hearing my brother's shouts from behind.
"He's so gonna question me when I get home.." I internally groaned, but continued nontheless. I looked at the map as I ran even faster than a horse at full speed.
"Alright... Crap!" I yelped as I nearly ran into a tree. I quickly dodged other trees, not slowing down once, and I finally found the place where they were keeping Kaliska. It was similar to where I was being kept, and I wondered if it was the same place. I didn't take the moment to look around after all. I just wanted to leave.
I let the magic wear off, before I crept into the place.
"Gahhh..." A groan came from a room, and I slipped in to see Kaliska there, laying on the ground writhing.
"Kaliska!" I gasped and rushed forward.
"Stop right there, prince." A voice spoke out, and I whirled around to see a man with a couple guards behind. I narrowed my gaze, and while I reached for my bow, my hand slipped into the pouch full of the crystals, and I pulled out the sleep crystal, which was a
lavender color. I shot them with the magic, and they all fell to the ground in a heap, snoring softly.
"Heh." I smirked, before I turned to Kaliska.
"Kaliska, are you alright?!" I asked as I sat her up. She looked up at me in effort, and smiled weakly.
"H-Hey Colt." She said quietly.
"Now hang on and don't squirm." I said as I picked her up, but held my glowing orange, fly crystal in my palm.
Once we got out with surprisingly, no other witnesses, I poured the magic onto myself, and felt my body become lighter. I was feeling the strain from using the crystals, but with Kaliska in my arms, I wasn't going to let anything slow me down.
I flew up into the sky, and for a moment I felt unbalanced, before I got into a position that felt natural in the sky.
"I'll drop you off at the human castle first. The treatment is good there." I said to her, but she didn't respond. She simply kept her eyes closed and her lips parted slightly.
I flew us to the kingdom, and landed on my balcony. When the orange glow faded from my skin, I rushed us to the medical room. Medics took Kaliska away, and I sat in the hallway, and sighed.
"Colt!" Spruce stormed down the hallway towards me, and I internally groaned, and looked over at him.
"Where in the world did you go?!" He asked as he grabbed me by my shoulder and made me look at him.
"Went to save Kaliska." I shrugged, and he rose an eyebrow, obviously not amused by my answer.
"Where was she? Is she alright?" He asked, and I looked at the ground, unsure.
"They were running tests on her.. I'll check on her as soon as she's able to be seen." I said, and Spruce frowned.
"You should eat at least first. You missed dinner tonight." He said, and I realized he was right.
"I'm not hungry." I admitted. My worry washed away my appetite. I didn't feel hungry at all.
"Well.. Okay. Just at least sleep a little, okay?" He asked as he walked down the hallway towards his bedroom. I didn't respond, instead I watched him go, before I turned my gaze to the door to the medical room.
"Please be alright, Kaliska.."
