Everything was different, and nothing was the same.
I tried swinging with my rapier, but I got thrown off balance when I couldn't see Spruce on my left side.
After he left, I fell to my knees and sobbed quietly.
"I can't do this... The darkness in my left eye is maddening.. I look like a freak." I whispered, and I looked up at the sky. It was darkening, but it could never truly be as dark as the blackness I see.
I got up, and stumbled back to my home. Too much stress.
Kaliska has been kidnapped too.
I went up to my room, ignoring my parents, and stopped in front of the mirror. I stared at myself. No, I stared at the eyepatch.
I slowly took it off, and flinched at where my eye used to be.
The wound had been sown together, but the stitches were beginning to fall out because they've almost completed the healing.
I scowled in disgust, and before I knew what I was doing, I had punched the glass, and left my hand bleeding. The glass itself shattered, but no pieces fell loose.
Suddenly I was pulled away, and faced with my father gripping my hand, and my mother hugging me tightly and shivering. I made no response because I couldn't hear them. My father was shouting something in my face, but every word blended together, and made just one sound.
I blinked as sleepiness washed over me, and I pulled away, and looked at my hand tiredly. The red liquid was flowing from a long cut on the backside of my hand. I dipped a finger in the blood, and stared at it.
"Why does my blood seem so dark?" I thought as color around me faded. Everything, but the blood was now a dull gray color. I scoffed silently in disgust, and wiped it on my shirt, but it only smudged, and begun darken in color. I tried wiping at it, but the color only grew, until there was a pool of red below my feet, and I was covered in blood. Memories of my dream came back to me, and I trembled as I tried to get a grip on my sanity.
"Harmony!" I could hear my parents shouting, even though they were gone from my sight.
"Mommy? Daddy?" I asked outloud, and found my voice was suddenly younger and squeaky. I covered my mouth, but I shuddered when I looked at the blood on my hands.
I looked at the window, and without a second spare thought, I leaped right through it and into a nearby tree.
My knee smacked the trunk, and I flinched when a throbbing pain came back, because of my bruises.
"Harmony?" I heard a familiar voice, and I looked down to see Spruce standing there. He stared up at me. I narrowed my eyes for a moment. Was this all a dream? Does it matter what I say to Spruce right now? Everything is still gray, and I'm still covered in blood.
I jumped down, and turned to Spruce, but found myself screaming out of horror. There was blood slowly coming from Spruce's eyes. But what really made me shiver was the twisted smile on his face.
"We're not so different. See?" He asked in a high voice as he pointed to his eyes. I trembled, and stepped back.
"NO!" I shouted as I gripped my hair and pulled hard, trying to wake up.
He grabbed my arms and pulled me close, and I shrunk back from the stench of blood, filling all my senses.
He leaned forward, and I realized he was trying to kiss me, but I noticed movement over his shoulder. I quickly looked over his shoulder to see Cassidy watching us. I narrowed my gaze, before an idea popped into my mind.
"This is my dream Cassidy. You won't control me!" I growled as I grabbed Spruce's cheeks and pulled our lips together and locked them against each other. I closed my eyes and expected the overwhelming taste of blood, but what surprised me was when I reopened my eyes, Spruce's friendly eyes were staring straight back at me, full of color. I looked around to see everything was back to the way it was. But I looked tonsee Cassidy standing there, grinning widely.
When she lunged forward, I pulled Spruce out of the way, and put myself in front, and closed my eyes, waiting for unexplainable pain.
"Harmony... HARMONY!"
I snapped open my eyes to see I was back in my bedroom, with my parents sitting with me.
"When did I get on the floor?" I asked as I stared at them quizzically. I looked at myself and was relieved to see my clothes were clean. Except, I looked at my mirror and saw ir was still smashed. I looked at my parents, and they both held worry and fear in their eyes.
"Why did you do that?!" My mother exclaimed as she took me in a tight hug.
"I-I'm sorry. I don't know. I can't remember why I did.." I said, as I blinked in confusion, trying to recall what happened before I punched the mirror. Everything came up blank though.
"Huh.. Well please just go to sleep after I bandage your hand." My mother said, and grabbed some bandages from my dad. She gently wrapped it up, and helped me into bed.
"How was training today?" My mother asked gently as she put the covers over me and smoothed them.
"I think it went well." I said. Although, I could remember I was furious that I couldn't see out of my left eye.
"Hey mom, could I get a cool eyepatch instead of a plain black one?" I asked, and my mother rose an eyebrow.
"A cool eyepatch?" She asked, and I grinned.
"Yeah! Like one that glows in the dark, or something with jewels in it!" I said as I thought about it.
My mother laughed and got up.
"Maybe soon. Maybe for your birthday even!" She said cheerfully, and she closed the door to my room when she said goodnight.
"When is my birthday again anyway?" I wondered as I turned over onto my side. I closed my eyes with that in my mind.
