"Uhm.."
Nothing came out of my mouth as I found myself suddenly pinned to the ground with my mate hovering over me. She had a deadly look on her face as she pointed the knife at me with her right hand, whilst her left hand was holding my two arms down. I tried to speak but nothing came out. She didn't say anything either so we were stuck there looking at each other. Despite the knife directed at my throat, I didn't mind our position. It gave me time to appreciate her unfamiliar features. She had a straight pointed nose and full red lips that I was just dying to taste but she wouldn't lean in. Her wavy jet black hair hung off her shoulders and her piercing green eyes never left my blue ones.
Besides being taller than me, I also noticed that she was a bit physically stronger than I was, or at least she made herself seem like it. Although I think her strength was still no match to Gaia's, I speculated that she would still be able to defeat me or hold her own against a duel with me. I couldn't decide whether this was a blow to my pride or if I was lucky enough that I had two mates who were both physically strong and incredibly attractive. But I guess it made sense since witches and wizards were not known for brute strength but for intelligence and skill which I may not flaunt but it was something I had.
With that said, I could easily cast a spell to get her off me but.. weirdly, I didn't want to. I knew I wanted to assert my dominance over her because Gaia wouldn't let me do it with her so I might as well try it with our new mate but.. I just.. didn't. Whether it was because of the knife at my throat or because I didn't want to scare her, I just didn't do anything.
"Would you mind throwing the knife away?" I asked, chuckling.
My mate, whose name I still haven't discovered, only hissed, "What sorcery is this?" Oh fuck, I immediately felt like melting under her. Her voice was like silk, it was smooth and soft, yet femininely deep, sultry, and seductive at the same time.
"W-What?"
She rolled her eyes, "You're a witch." I only hummed in reply, still very much enchanted by her voice.
"A powerful one at that." She continued and I couldn't help but feel giddy that she praised me. Oh yuck, why was I feeling like a teenager girl whose crush just complimented her?
"You could be playing a trick on me and I wouldn't know." She stated, bringing the knife closer to my neck. Her face was dead serious as she leaned in close to my ear. My body tensed and I felt my cheeks blush as I focused on her breath fanning my skin.
She then whispered, "I don't trust witches." Her eyes roamed my face and she gave a look of recognition but said nothing. She seemed like she has just realized something important.. how suspicious.
"What is going on here?!"
We both looked at our right and saw Gaia. Our mate immediately got off me and got into a fighting stance. She looked at Gaia with a puzzled but fierce gaze. "You.. are not of anything I've ever encountered."
Gaia chuckled, "Well, yes. It's quite rare for people to encounter a demigoddess, but even more so to be mated to one."
"A demigoddess? How absurd."
"See it however you'd like. You'll understand soon, my mate." Gaia stated as she began walking towards her.
Our mate cautiously pointed the knife at her which made Gaia stop in her tracks. "No. If you are my mate, then what role does she plays?" She then pointed the knife at me.
"She is also your mate." Gaia simply answered.
I slowly stood up, making our mate alert of my actions. She glared at me as she stated, "Witches cannot be trusted." Ouch, that one actually hurt. I knew many other kinds weren't particularly fond of witches and wizards but I didn't think my mate would be one of them.
