Chapter 3

We have a what? Was I hearing things correctly? I must be deaf! But no, I can't be.. witches can't be born deaf, or physically impaired. Then I must be hearing things! Oh wait.. witches cannot hallucinate unless they've taken drugs made specifically for witches and wizards. Then I must have taken drugs without my knowledge! But Weiss would know by just one single look at me.. and I'm pretty sure she'd be able to heal me in an instant. Then.. then.. oh fuck, I can't think of anything anymore!

"Did you just say we have a second mate?" I asked, just to be sure that I heard her clearly.

Gaia visibly gulped and nodded, "Yes."

"So what you're saying is.. you're not my only mate and I'm not your only mate? That our mate bond is not just between two people.. but three people?"

Gaia nodded once more, "Yes."

I leaned against my chair and stared at her with wide eyes. "You mean.. we're supposed to be in a polyamorous relationship?"

"Yes.. I was.. very reluctant to tell you as I was not aware of your views on polyamory. I did not know if you were monogamous or not, thus I honestly felt.. a bit terrified to reveal this information to you."

Still very shocked, I ran a hand through my hair and chuckled awkwardly, "Well I've done threesomes, does that comfort you?"

She frowned and her look turned dark which immediately made me sit up straight. "Kidding! Kidding! Uhm.. what I meant to say was that I am not opposed to a polyamorous relationship.. so uh.. don't look at me like you're about to stab me."

Her facial expression became softer and she shook her head, "I would never harm you, Willow."

"Physically harm me, yes, but you mentally and emotionally harmed me."

"I know.. and I will not stop until I've earned yo-"

"Enough of that for now, Gaia." I cut her off which puzzled her. "Tell me what happened, tell me everything, do not leave out any relevant information."

"Of course.. as you already know, you are my first mate because I found you first. It was relatively easier to find you as you've always been in the public eye with your royal status as a princess. Our second mate, on the other hand, proves to be a more challenging search as I cannot find them anywhere.. I do not even know of their gender."

"Refer to them as she, I don't even want to think about the possibly of having a male mate." I stated, shuddering at the horrific thought. I can't imagine being with a guy and I'd like it to stay that way.

She nodded, "Perhaps our mate is a female but that does not make the search any easier. These past few months of my absence were dedicated to finding our last mate, to completing our mate bond.. but unfortunately, I have yet to find her."

"You should have told me before, I could have helped you with the search! Maybe we would've found her already if we just searched together!" I exclaimed, shaking my head at her.

"As I've stated.. I was not too sure if you would accept our mate bond with her thus I chose to keep it a secret. Another reason was that I truly was not supposed to interact with you earlier. I was to find my first mate and then my second mate before introducing myself to both of you which was why I had not shown myself to you before your fight with Eva."

"I still feel so confused." I mumbled.

She gave me a small smile, "I understand. It can be overwhelming."

"Why do we even have another mate? I've never heard of anyone having two mates before."

She sighed, "Well.. my mates, you and our missing lover, are supposed to keep each other company whilst I am busy fulfilling my duties for the Moon Goddess. My responsibilities can become quite time consuming and I am required to always answer to any call from our creator therefore this can result to me having little time to dedicate to my mates. Thus, I had to find our last mate fast as I've already initiated our mate bond with you. I knew I could not leave you alone without our last mate which was why during the past few months, I've been incredibly busy with handling my duties whilst searching for our mate and this.. unfortunately prohibited any chance to visit you."
