"My Goddess, I have not neglected my duties.. I've given life to the people of Zeons and I have secured the forbidden passage to their forest. Please, I only ask for when my mates shall open their eyes.."
"Oh.. perhaps her holiness is.. occupied."
I slowly opened my eyes and groaned as I turned to lie on my side. What greeted me was the peaceful sleeping face of no one other than my distrusting mate, Mallory.. Mallory. I sighed and contemplated caressing her face but I opted not to as I didn't want to create any more complications.
"Willow? Are you awake?"
I slowly sat up and chuckled when Gaia embraced me from behind. Her arms snaked around my waist as she pulled me closer. "Thank the Moon Goddess." She whispered as she buried her face on the crook of my neck.
"It's alright, Gaia, it's not like I almost died." I stated, amused at her reaction. I then looked around me and noticed we've returned to Gaia's mountain, she must have transported us back here.
Gaia pulled away and sighed, "Perhaps but what happened was, in a way, related to death."
I raised a brow at her, confused, "What? What even happened? And why is Mallory affected as well? Did you use your powers on us?"
"No, my powers and your magic weren't the culprits.." Gaia trailed off and then it finally clicked in me.
I looked at Mallory and gasped, "She has powers?!"
"It's quite difficult to say but I already have a guess on what Mallory could be. It only confuses me as to why her scent isn't that of any other kinds I've smelled." Gaia scooted closer to Mallory and began caressing her cheek, lovingly. I smiled at the sight before me.. they looked cute like that.
"I get it.. she came off weirdly unrecognizable to me as well. Usually, it's easy to tell what a person's kind is but in Mallory's case.. I had no idea."
We heard groaning and we both looked down to see Mallory who was clutching her stomach. I immediately rushed to check her whilst Gaia kept gently caressing her cheek. Our mate was in pain and I felt a bit panicked so I held my hand out to cast a healing spell but Gaia quickly held my hand and put it down. I gave her an angry look and was about to argue with her but she shook her head and gestured towards Mallory.
Mallory was now, suddenly, all better? Her skin looked healthier than before and her eyes were more radiant and alive. Her wounds and scars seemed to have healed with no trace either. Without a word, she sat up and stood up from Gaia's bed.
"Where are you going?"
Mallory didn't answer, instead she began to walk towards the edge of Gaia's mountain. Panicking, Gaia and I both ran after her to stop whatever she had in mind. But thankfully, she didn't do anything extremely negative and deadly.
"Mallory, we genuinely need to talk."
Mallory didn't respond once more until Gaia blurted out, "I know you're a demon!"
Surprised, Mallory abruptly turned around and eyed Gaia. She stayed silent for a while, to observe the two of us but then she sighed and shook her head. "I wish."
She tried to leave once more but Gaia quickly held her hand. Mallory scowled and tried pulling her hand free from Gaia's hold but to no avail. I approached the two of them and blocked the exit of the mountain. Mallory gave me an annoyed look but I maintained my ground.
"Why must you both persist? Have you forgotten I tried to reject our mate bond?" Mallory asked.
I only smiled at her whilst Gaia chuckled, "And yet, you're not continuing the rejection."
