Obi-Wan and I walked along the grassy desert of the planet Mapuzo, heading to the location where our supposed "contact" would pick us up before the Empire spotted us.
It was hot outside, but the weather amounted to nothing when compared to Tatooine. There was actually a cool breeze blowing through the air, and I inwardly welcomed it with open arms.
The gravel crunched under our feet, and the trail went on forever towards the horizon. Obi-Wan had a frim grip on my hand, rubbing his calloused thumb along my knuckles.
When I glanced at his face, my heart broke at the sight of his haunted, broken blue eyes. The sparkle that had once graced them were gone, and his handsome face was lined with tedious amounts of grief.
I wished I could've done something more to support him, but I felt that every effort I made was not enough. Sighing, I raised his hand to my lips and gave it a gentle kiss, letting him know nonverbally that I was there if he needed to talk.
Obi-Wan didn't say anything, but he acknowledged my gesture by stopping and leaning over to kiss the side of my head. Even after everything he had been through, he was still the same loving and gentle person I remembered from when we had first met almost 20 years prior.
To further emphasize my statement, I mouthed, "I love you."
He cracked the tiniest smile and said aloud, "I know."
We then continued the long trek to our destination.
