Obi-Wan, Anakin, and I ran into the large hangar, trying to catch Count Dooku before he escaped from Geonosis. He turned in our direction, and his face was the perfect picture of calm. It was obviously not his first time dealing with an unnecessary obstacle.
We all stopped and raised our weapons at the Sith Lord, indicating that we were going to capture him together. "You're going to pay for all the Jedi you killed today, Dooku," Anakin said, slowly moving off to the left.
Obi-Wan began to give him instructions, but Anakin was too impatient and angry to listen, so he ran towards Dooku at full speed. He ended up getting electrocuted by his Force-lightning, and he threw Anakin into a nearby wall, nearly knocking him unconscious.
I aimed my blaster straight at Dooku, and Obi-Wan lifted his saber higher with a threatening glare. "As you can see, my Jedi powers are far beyond yours," he smirked while circling around us slowly. "Now, back down."
He shot his lightning at Obi-Wan, but he blocked it with his blue blade with ease. "I don't think so," he replied, not taking his eyes off of him once.
Dooku then moved his gaze over to me, and he said, "I must admit, it's quite a surprise to have you here, Your Highness."
I raised an eyebrow. "Why? Were you not expecting a Queen to be able to fight?"
He shook his head. "No, I'm well aware of your bravery. It's more the fact that you're willing to show yourself with Master Kenobi."
I glared at him. "What would you know? I'm practically a stranger to you."
"Your feelings deceive you," Dooku replied. "I can sense your thoughts as easily as I'm seeing you."
I tightened my grip around the blaster as my blood boiled inside my veins. Not only was I angry, but I was also vulnerable to his abilities, and I had never felt more scared in my life.
Obi-Wan quickly put a protective arm in front of me and said, "Get out of her head, Dooku. You have no right to be in there."
Dooku unclipped his lightsaber hilt and activated the red blade. "Then fight me, Master Kenobi. Save your Queen before I get to her first."
The statement unhinged a nerve in Obi-Wan, and he quickly launched himself at the Sith Lord. Their blades clashed ferociously in bright flashes of yellow, and it gave me a chance to check on Anakin. He was still lying against the wall, his leather tunic smoking from the blast of lightning.
I kneeled down beside him and rested my hand on his shoulder. "Anakin," I said. "Are you alright?"
He groaned and sarcastically replied, "I'm wonderful, Your Highness. You should try getting zapped sometime."
I rolled my eyes and ignored him. "Obi-Wan needs your help," I responded instead. "He won't be able to hold Dooku off forever."
Anakin looked over at the battle, but it was obvious that he was still incredibly weak, so I made a quick choice and said, "Give me your lightsaber."
"What?" he asked, brows furrowed in confusion. "You're not a Jedi."
I took it out of his hand and muttered, "I can damn well try."
Standing up, I pointed the hilt away from me and ignited the green blade. It was a lot heavier than I expected, but that didn't matter to me as I stepped forward and yelled, "Get away from him, Dooku!"
They were both in a blade lock, but Dooku separated from Obi-Wan and pushed him back with the Force, throwing him about twenty feet away. He then faced me and stepped towards me. "Your anger has made you bold, young one," he said. "But will it be enough to save you and Master Kenobi?"
I gripped the hilt tightly in my hand and replied, "You have no idea what I'm capable of."
He smiled. "Well then, show me."
Just as Dooku was about to land the first blow on me, Obi-Wan ran over and stood protectively in front of me, using his blue blade to block the red one. "Not today," he said through gritted teeth. He then used the Force and sent him flying far away from us, causing him to land with a thud.
Even though he was older, Dooku stood up quickly and glared at us. "You are unwise to protect someone who will eventually be killed, Master Kenobi." He lifted his hands up and cracked the ceiling above us, large pieces of rock hovering over menacingly.
Obi-Wan quickly noticed the threat, deactivated his saber, and shielded me with his body in a matter of seconds. I heard them drop and prepared myself to be crushed, but nothing happened. Confused, I glanced over to the side and saw Master Yoda a few feet away, tossing the pieces of rock away.
The sound of a ship taking off pierced my ears harshly, and I immediately knew what happened. Dooku had ran in cowardice while Yoda had been distracted with saving me and Obi-Wan. I sighed in defeat and rested my head on the ground when multiple footsteps suddenly echoed in the hangar, and Padme's familiar voice rang out as she called Anakin's name.
Obi-Wan then got off of me and helped me up. "Are you alright, milady?" he asked softly, keeping me close to him.
I still had the lightsaber in my hand, which was shaking from both fear and the remnants of my previous adrenaline. "He g-got into my head, Obi," I stammered. "He saw right t-through me."
Usually, Obi-Wan would've kept his distance from me when other people were around, but he was not going to leave me alone this time. The disturbance that he felt from me was more than he could handle, so he had to comfort me somehow.
Without hesitation, Obi-Wan pulled me into his chest and held me tightly against him. He placed a soft kiss on my head and murmured, "It's okay, darling. I've got you."
"I'm so weak," I said, my voice cracking. "I couldn't hold Dooku back from my thoughts."
"No, no," he shook his head. "You are not weak. You are the strongest, most fearless woman I've ever met, and I don't blame you for what has happened."
I glanced up at Obi-Wan. "Why not? He knows about us now."
"I think Dooku already knew before you ever met him," he explained. "This is not your fault, Lyra."
I disagreed heavily, but I didn't get a word in before he kissed my head and said, "Stop blaming yourself, milady. We'll be safe once we're back on Coruscant."
It took everything in me to not say something, but I eventually complied and let Obi-Wan hold me until we had to separate for precautions.
