Ewan watched me from the sofa as I paced back and forth endlessly, trying to figure out a geometry problem that was slipping my mind like grains of sand. Math had never been my strong suit, but I needed to do well on my SAT in order to get into college, so it was a big deal.

I stopped pacing and sat down on the carpet, rubbing my eyes tiredly. "This sucks," I groaned. "I'm never going to get this right."

"Yes, you will," Ewan said patiently. "All you need to do is relax. Thinking hard on it won't help you out."

"Relax?!" I exclaimed. "My test is in two days!"

He leaned over and raised an eyebrow. "Do you have any other ideas?" he asked with a knowing smirk.

I sighed in annoyance. "No."

"Then come and sit with me," Ewan chuckled. "I could probably loosen you up."

I eventually obliged and sat down next to him. He wrapped an arm around my waist and pulled me into his side. "Now, was that so hard?"

I rolled my eyes at his question, but a smile was tugging at the corners of my mouth. "Why do you have to be so difficult?" I asked back.

"It's because I love you," Ewan replied, kissing my lips softly. "And to be honest, I think you like my stubbornness."

I blushed and looked away, but he turned my head back around gently and kissed me again. It was a little deeper than before, and it sent goosebumps all over my arms. "You're way too good at that," I breathed out when he broke away.

He smiled and rested his chin on the top of my head. "It's only because I practice with the best girl ever," Ewan whispered into my hair.

I blushed again and buried my face into his chest, reveling in the feeling of his arms around me.
