10 - Friendship

He spent the next few hours talking with Jack on what to do. The man was kind enough to give him a new apartment.

All of his stuff was ruined. But it wasn't much anyway. He thankfully agreed, got a new key, and decided to lay on the dry floor until his next shift.

He texted Kate, asking if she could call. Her call picture popped up a few seconds later.

"Tell me everything, babes," she quickly coaxed him to share.

"Oh my goooood," He groaned. "There's too much. I've basically hooked up with two hot gods and now I don't wanna go to work."

"Okay; start from the beginning. What happened after you left with that guy?" Her tone turned suggestive, and his whine to shut her up only confirmed her suspicions.

"He dropped me off at home like a gentleman, that's all."

"Oh, no, no, no. That's not all. Tell me!" She squealed over the phone.

"We got a cab."

"Uh huh."

"Made out in the car.."

"High school prom or drunk ex type kissing?"

"It doesn't matter."

"Yes, it does," she sang.

"High school prom. We made it to the room and we fucked.." He mumbled the last bit.

"What was that?"

"We fucked," He hissed and gave his phone a pointed look that he'd give Kate if she were there.

"Annnnd?"

"It was amazing!" He wailed. "I should've gotten myself a daddy ages ago."

She continued getting every little detail about the sex, his apartment, and what happened earlier that morning. Finally, she declared this was much more serious than she originally thought and promised Chinese food in 15 minutes, after she had him send his address.

And exactly as she promised, she had steaming Chinese food, a backpack, and hours to listen.

He let her in and paused for only a second before setting the bags onto the ground. She turned, gave him a quick hug, and began sorting the food.

"Start talking, I'll work on the food," she wrestled with the plastic bag.

"You act like you live here," He laughed, sitting by her. He was thankful she didn't question the lack of furniture he had.

"Watch it. I'm like a cockroach, I'll sneak my way in here and never leave."

He laughed. An actual laugh. It'd felt so long since he had. He didn't want this moment to end.

"Oh my God. We should decorate," she randomly spoke up.

"Decorate what?" He slurped down his noodles noisily with a grin.

"You're disgusting, I see why your parents never loved you," she stuck her tongue out at him, just for him to open his mouth and show the chewed up food. "Gross!"

She threw an empty water bottle, barely missing his head as they both laughed.

"We should decorate your apartment!" She motioned to the room they sat in with both hands.

"A, I'm broke. B, you're broke
C, we both have work. D, that's a lotta work," He whined the last words, pouting as she rolled her eyes.

"You're a big baby."

He faked hurt, pressing his hand dramatically over his broken heart and falling backwards.

"Oh nooo. I've killed him. Do I inherit 2 sex gods now?" She wondered outloud, smirking to herself.

"Woooooow. That's all you care about?" He sat up, crossing his arms.  "And I was going to buy you that puppy.."

She faked a gasp. "A puppy? How could you take such a thing back?"

Their terrible dramatics continued, even as they were forced to eat quickly. When they needed to get ready for their shift, Ethan began panicking.

Kate hushed him and showed him what was in her backpack. Two thin, black outfits sat in the bag. Both small, one female, and the other male.

"Kate- how'd you-", he began but again she hushed him and directed him to the bathroom.
