lonely boy pt.3

They were also confused, but like the two eldest they also went home. 

In the weeks that followed, they often noticed that Hyunjin was turning pale, but he constantly said that he was fine. After Changbin and Seungmin confirmed the same as Chan and Minho before, Jeongin and Felix followed him a few weeks later and they also came out at the park and slowly they realized that the younger one must live there. They thought that he lived somewhere nearby and just sat by the little pond and enjoyed the weather until it got dark, but this speculation turned out to be completely wrong just two weeks later.  

It was the week when the other six groups were allowed to present their posters and Powerpoint presentations. Hyunjin knew that he wasn't feeling well that day, but he still went to school and everything was fine for the first few hours. Here and there he had to cough or sneeze, but otherwise nothing serious. That, however changed in the two hours they had with Ms. Nan. He turned pale and was exhausted from sitting around and listening, since he was sitting in the back, he rested his head on his arms and fell asleep not even five minutes later. 

He slept completely through the sixth period without anyone noticing. Only when the bell rang for lunch and the students sitting in front of him had left the classroom did his friends see that he was asleep. Thinking nothing of it, they walked to him and woke him up as gently as possible. "Jinnie...Jinnie wake up...we have lunch break.." Chan said softly and ran his hands through the boy's hair. Hyunjin sighed, but then his eyes slowly fluttered open and he looked sleepily into Chan's face while his lips formed a pout. 

"What's so important that you wake me up?" He asked, still pouting. The others giggled at Jinnie's cute behavior. "It's lunch break Hyunie.. come on we're all hungry." Changbin said, smiling softly at the boy. "Allright... then I'll come with you, I can't sleep anymore anyway..." he pouted. The others giggled again, but that didn't last long, because the youngest member of the group stood up and collapsed seconds after. "Huh?" Was the only thing that left his mouth as he looked at the others in confusion. "Hyunie.. are you still sure you're okay?" Felix asked and Hyunjin remained silent this time as he looked everywhere except at the seven boys. 

"Hey.. why didn't you stay home if you're not feeling well, huh?" Minho now asked and knelt down next to the boy who was still sitting on the floor. He first shrugged his shoulders in response and a few minutes later he whispered a simple "I can't stay at home.." Confused, the seven looked at each other and then at the sick boy on the floor. "Come up first, then we'll talk more.." Jisung said and pulled him to his feet together with Seungmin. 

They put the boy back in his chair and sat around him with their classmates chairs. "So... would you like to tell us why you can't stay at home if you're feeling so bad?" Jeongin asked, but Hyunjin shook his head which he then lowered. "Okay.. it's okay.. we're not forcing you to tell us, but how about you go home and rest, huh? One of us can go with you too, just to be safe." Hyunjin hesitated. "I'll go ho-.. I'll go... but you don't have to walk with me, I'll get there safely..."  

The boys looked at each other uncertainly, not sure whether they should just let the boy go or not. "We'll at least accompany you to the secretary...then we'll let you go alone...okay?" Chan suggested, Hyunjin simply nodded. When they arrived at said place, they said goodbye to the youngest and walked towards the cafeteria with an uneasy feeling. On the way to the cafeteria, Jisung stopped, which is why the others also stopped.
