Summary: Bucky is obsessed with the failed mission and it almost takes over his life. He finally realizes he has to let it go after two years have passed. He begins to heal, training with Steve and some new recruits. One of those new recruits takes notice of Bucky, and wants him to herself, but she's not what she seems.

The next few weeks turned into a few months, then it was almost the first year of you being gone that Bucky was still constantly going over the data, audio, and videos from the mission he was on.

He wasn't cleared for any new missions since both Steve and Sam thought it would be best if Bucky take a little time off. Grief can make people do all kinds of things, and since the mission, Bucky had become irrational, and obsessed over every detail. He memorized everyone's dialogue from the audio, knew where the angles of the shots would be from the videos, and made map after map of the base.

He contemplated making a small diorama and set of the base using models but thought not since Steve and Sam gave him a funny look.

"Buck, you have to accept the fact that Y/n is gone" Sam gently said as he found Bucky in the kitchen late one night, going over the pre-mission report.

Bucky glared at Sam and didn't speak, turning back to his paperwork.

"I know someone who you could talk to" Sam suggested sitting down with Bucky, looking over his papers.

"I'm not seeing another shrink Sam" Bucky glared then went back to his papers.

"He's not a shrink. He deals with trauma and loss"

"Y/n isn't dead"

Bucky got up from the table.

"Bucky..."

Sam said a little more firmly, making Bucky stop dead in his tracks.

"I'll leave you his card, but I think you should talk to him. Give him a try for a few sessions. He should be able to help you process what happened and make a plan for you to start living again"

Bucky whipped around and glared at Sam.

"I don't want to start again Sam. Y/n was everything to me!" Bucky then stormed off.

Sam got out the card from his wallet and on his way to his room, he slipped it under Bucky's door, in the hopes Bucky would do the right thing and call.

Every so often, you were moved from location to location and each time this happened, your captors would come into your cell, handcuff you, and put a bag over your head prior to escorting you out.

You hated that bag.

You just wanted to catch a glimpse of your surroundings, anything other than the four walls of your cell but it never happened. They would lead you down a long hall that felt like you were walking up a ramp, so you knew you were being held underground at each location. You would be loaded in a vehicle then transported to the new site. You knew it was a new site because you secretly marked the walls of the cells you were in and each time you were moved, you checked the spot you marked, and there was nothing there.

How many cells do these people have?

Then one day, you were brought back into the first cell you were put in. You recognized the marks you made. You figured out you had been moved a total of five times, all the people around you spoke English, and you were never flown anywhere, always driven but for no longer than 30 minutes.
