Summary: Bucky is all set to propose to you but you're both needed on a mission so his plans go awry. The whole team knows but you.

You and Bucky have been dating for well over a year when he told Steve his plans. 

"I'm going to do it Steve. I'm going to ask Y/n to marry me" he blurted out as they were returning from a three-day mission. 

"Wow Buck, I'm proud of you. Y/n is a great gal" he said while he patted Bucky on his back. 

Bucky beamed with pride he was finally going to ask you to marry him.

You and Bucky were friends first before you decided to change the dynamic of your relationship and date each other. That was one of the best decisions he ever made was when he confessed that he wanted more from you, and he was ecstatic you felt the same way. 

He adored you, but he did have reservations about asking you to marry him. 

Would he be enough for you? 

Would you accept his past fully? 

Would you be part of his healing plan? 

Those doubts slowly eased when you and he would talk about your future from time to time. You and Bucky always talked about things together. That was one of the reasons he was drawn to you.

You knew he was shy and wasn't used to a lot of people, but for whatever reason, he was drawn to you. You made him feel at ease and didn't seem to judge him or make him open up. Once he felt more comfortable, he came to you, sought you out in a room, and he started spending more time with you; things just naturally happened. 

After talking with you about the future, he closed his eyes one night to sleep and that's when it hit him. He couldn't imagine his life without you as he held you close in his arms. 

That's when he made his plans to propose to you.

"Hey Y/n, what are you doing tonight?"

Nat barged into your room and flopped down on your bed.

 "Going out with Buck. He said to dress nice as he's taking me to Luxe tonight for dinner"

You eyed her suspiciously. 

"Steve and I have a last-minute mission" she said watching you. 

"Yeah, I saw that. Mission meeting in 30 minutes in the hangar" 

You finished folding your clothes. 

Nat rolled her eyes at you but smiled. 

"Luxe is pretty fancy" Nat stated.

You shrugged.

 "I know. It's not our usual spot for dinner. I don't even know why he wants to go there but whatever" Nat smirked. 

"You want to borrow a dress?" she asked, and you shook your head no. 

"No thanks. I think I'll just wear my usual black one" 

She scoffed. 

"If you change your mind, let me know" 

She got up from your bed and left the room.
