Avengers Bucky

Summary: You used to be an agent with the team, then you wanted out because things were too scary for you. You also used to date Bucky before things went to hell and you broke up due to a misunderstanding. You moved on and opened a bakery and got one of your friends to join you. It's her wedding day and you're her maid of honour. Bucky is a guest and this is the first time you've seen him since.

Content Warning: Language, miscommunication/misunderstanding, second chances, bit of jealousy, angst, bit of mental health bashing, Nat is mean in this (sorry) but she fixes it.

"He's going to be there you know..." came your friends voice from behind the curtain of the fitting room.

"I know"

"How long has it been?"

"Three months"

"And you've heard nothing from him since you left?"

"Nope"

"Well, fuck him then"

You lightly chuckled at your friend's bluntness but sadly agreed with her.

You were doing your maid of honour duties and currently sitting at your friend Emily's final wedding dress fitting, waiting outside of the dressing room while the seamstress went over some last-minute adjustments. Her wedding was in two days.

You were a former SHIELD communications and logistics agent turned baker and knew almost everyone on the guest list making your stomach flip flop thinking about it.

Emily was a high-ranking agent herself mainly assisting the Avengers. You both had had enough fighting and the things you had seen and done could fuel your nightmares for years and years, so you got out and started a bakery, your other passion.

It was doing well, and Emily always helped you when she could. You asked her to come and work with you as she was tired of being in danger, training, and fighting all the time like you were. She thought it over, handed in her paperwork, and was going to be joining you after her honeymoon.

You knew the Avengers, with Steve and Sam being your good friends, whom you kept in touch with.

Then there was Bucky.

Your stomach lurched at the thought of seeing him again. You knew you were going to leave the agent life behind but hadn't had that talk with him yet. He was your occasional partner out on missions, and he helped you with training.

You even managed to go out with him for a few months, making the two of you inseparable then it all came crashing down around you.

Flashback

"Hey, I just gotta get some supplies, I'll be right there" you called to Steve as you made your way to one of the closets in the hangar.

You were about to turn the corner when you noticed Bucky with his back to you, talking with a few lower-level agents, and Nat so you hung back around the corner, curious at their discussion. You knew eavesdropping was wrong, but you stood there frozen, not sure what to do with yourself since their discussion looked intense and private.

"So, you and agent Y/l/n are a thing? Officially?" asked one of the agents and Nat scoffed at them.

"More like a little distraction for Barnes. Right babe?" Nat said getting a rise from the small group.

You could see Bucky nod.

You knew Nat and Bucky had some sort of a past, but he never talked about it. It wasn't your place to keep questioning him about it, so you left it alone.
