As the first light of dawn filtered through the curtains, casting a soft glow across the room, Yeonjun stirred from his fitful sleep, his thoughts still weighed down by the events of the previous night. With a heavy heart, he glanced towards Beomgyu's sleeping form, his chest tightening at the sight of the boy who lay so still, his breathing shallow and labored.

Sensing movement nearby, Yeonjun turned to see Beomgyu's mother standing by the window, her gaze fixed on the horizon as she watched the sunrise with a mix of apprehension and hope. Her hands were clasped tightly together, fingers intertwined in silent prayer as she silently pleaded for her son's recovery.

"Good morning, Mrs. Choi," Yeonjun greeted softly, his voice tinged with concern as he approached her side. "How are you holding up?"

Mrs. Choi turned to face him, her eyes tired and red-rimmed from tears shed in the darkness of night. She offered him a weak smile, but it faltered under the weight of her worry.

"I... I don't know, Yeonjun," she admitted, her voice barely above a whisper. "I'm scared. I'm scared for my son, for what lies ahead... I don't know if I can bear to lose him."

Yeonjun's heart ached at the raw vulnerability in her words, the depth of a mother's love laid bare in the early light of day. And Yeonjun could understand her so deeply. He could understand her so well that he couldn't even manage to utter the words of comfort.

As Mrs. Choi gazed tenderly at her son's sleeping form, memories of years gone by flooded her mind, each moment etched with the bittersweet imprint of a love lost but never forgotten.

"He was just five years old when his father passed away," she began, her voice soft and tinged with a hint of melancholy. "It was so sudden, so unexpected... and there I was, left alone to raise a young child on my own."

Her words carried the weight of years spent navigating the trials and tribulations of single parenthood, of shouldering the burden of grief while striving to provide a stable and loving home for her son.

"But Beomgyu... he was always so resilient, even at such a young age," she continued, a fond smile gracing her lips as she recalled the boy who had filled her days with laughter and light. "He would wrap his tiny arms around me and tell me not to cry, that he would be there for me no matter what."

With each word spoken, Mrs. Choi's eyes sparkled with a mixture of pride and nostalgia, her heart overflowing with love for the son who had been her anchor in the stormiest of seas. And Yeonjun couldn't help but feel a ruthless pang in his chest at her words, her nostalgia burning him in the flames of dejection.

"And he kept his promise, Yeonjun," she added, her voice trembling slightly with emotion. "Through every hardship, every setback, Beomgyu was always there, a source of strength and hope when I needed it most.

"I still remember the day we found out about his heart condition," she recounted, her voice tinged with a mixture of sadness and resolve. "He was just a boy, barely into his teens, when the doctors delivered the news.
