Steve reads the paper allowed "Here? What the hell does that mean" he questioned.
I think everybody really knew what that meant. They were here. The Soc's know what I did to Bob and they were here for blood. For vengeance. I could feel my heart beating faster and faster. I try to breathe and gather my surroundings. I look at Soda, for him to tell me what todo next but he looks lost and panicked.
Just as I am about to turn to Pony I feel a sharp hit directly under my left eye. I reach up in pain and see a rock laying on the floor in front of me. Soda sees the rock too.
"Everybody get to the kitchen" He shouts as he is still crouched over making his way as quickly as he can to the kitchen.
Johnny turned over the table, everything that was once on the table now on the ground. He propped the table up on the side and motioned for everybody to get behind it. Using the table like a shield.
"Incoming" I hear Pony shout as rocks start to shatter more glass from the window and break our belongings. They are destroying our house. Things that belonged to Mom and Dad. Things that Darry and Soda had to work so hard for so we could enjoy the little things that come so easy for those rich assholes outside.
Johnny has me tucked inside his jean jacket and I can hear myself breathing loudly into his chest. We are all in the kitchen taking cover behind the overturned table from the ambush of rocks. My eye is still throbbing from a direct hit. My poor head has really taken a beating today.
From all of our things shattering and the Socs' outside hooting and hollering it was loud. It was hard to think on what todo next. I know if Darry or Dally were here they would know what todo. They wouldn't be scared so I decide I ain't gonna be scared neither.
I free myself from Johnny's hold and look around. Steve is over by the stove looking pretty banged up and bloody. He must have taken some hits with the rocks too.
"Call the Hospital" I say with force.
They all look at me, probably thinking what the hell is the hospital gonna do.
"Darry said if there was trouble to call the hospital, not the police station" I remind everybody.
Steve gives me a nod and reaches up to grab the phone attached on the wall and dials the hospital. He puts it to his ear and starts banging it on his hand. Somethings wrong I immediately think to myself. He looks up at us "The phone isn't working" Steve fretted.
"Oh man they must'a cut the phone lines" Johnny says with a worried look on his face.
Everybody is freaking out. I thought we would have been more prepared for something like this, but from the rock ambush alone people were hurt. I do see the irony of them throwing rocks at us, considering that's what I almost killed Bob with.
