My eyes are closed as if I was in a slumber but I could see the sunlight beaming through my eyelids. I hear a distorted of voices shouting my name and shaking my shoulders.
"Baylee, Baylee wake up"
"Go get some water"
"Baylee" "Bay"
I felt the water hit my face and I opened my eyes quickly, like waking up from a nightmare.
"What the hell"? I questioned, coughing and spitting some of the water that went in my mouth. I look up and the gang is standing in a circle surrounding me. Darry and Sodapop crouched on each side of me and Dallas standing above me with an empty bucket.
Darry looked up towards Dallas "I meant a glass of water for her to drink not to waterboard her with".
"It worked didn't it" Dal shrugged pointing his empty bucket towards me.
Soda was moving the wet strands of hair out of my face. "Are you okay Bay?"
I was confused, I reached my hand up to the back of my head and winced when I felt a rather large bump that had formed. "What happened?" I asked while trying to get to my feet.
Darry stoped me from standing and told me that I needed to stay seated for a minute, take it easy because I took a pretty bad fall. I leaned up against the side of our house and Pony handed me a glass of water. I sipped it slowly.
"You fainted" Pony stated.
I starred up at the boys gathered around me before meeting Two-bits eyes. "...So he's awake?" I asked calmly.
Two-bit nods "Yeah kiddo, He's awake."
I lowered my head and took a breathe. "So what do we do now?" I mumbled
Darry raised my head to look at him "You don't need to worry, We are gonna take care of it."
I nodded. I wasn't really sure how he planned on taking care of it. If Bob says who did that to him, he could go to the feds. We could get in trouble for not only me putting him in the hospital but lying to the police. My family would be split up for sure. Maybe the Socs' don't go to the feds and decide to take care of it themselves...to get even. Blood for blood? Someone can get hurt and I could still lose my family. I am lifted to my feet.
"Why don't you go inside with Pony and get some ice for that noggin" Darry suggests he looks at Dally and Two-bit "We can make a visit to the hospital and chat with Bob, See what kind of information he gave out".
Dally and Two-bit both nod simultaneously. As I was being pushed inside I saw Darry point a finger towards Pony and Soda "If anybody comes on this property, call the hospital. Not the police. I will get back as fast as possible. Nobody goes outside. Got it?" They nod.
