The rest of the weekend dragged by. Who knew being grounded would be so boring? My days mostly consisted of chores, overdue homework, and at least one of the boys in the gang checking up on me to ensure I wasn't disobeying my house arrest orders.
I desperately missed the outdoors and as crazy as it sounds I can't wait to get back to school tomorrow. I have not seen or heard from Ella since the party and have so much to catch her up on as far as my great escape through the bathroom window and my downfall. I only assumed she was in the same boat as I was unable to leave her house and grounded until the end of time.
Things seemed to cool off with Darry after our talk he didn't bring it up again. Nobody pushed any further questions regarding what happened the night of the party. I knew Johnny and Dally both saw things but fortunately for me, they kept it to themselves. Maybe my speech about all of them being hypocrites worked.
🖤
The next morning I woke up early, beating my alarm clock. I even shocked Darry when he noticed I was ready to go and standing at the door before he was even fully awake.
"You're up early" Darry states wiping the sleep out of his eyes
Just ready to get out of this damn house is what I wanted to say but instead I nodded while taking a bite of an apple and with a mouth full murmured "Couldn't sleep"
A few more minutes passed by. "Pony let's go" I shouted from the living room causing Darry to push his hand on his temple and give me a look that screamed its too early to be that loud.
"I'm comin'," Pony says annoyed that I am rushing him.
I slung my school bag over my shoulder when Pony finally started heading to the door.
"Hold up" Darry spoke up before we made it out the door.
so close.
Once Darry had filled us in on the fact that he was working late that night and we both needed to fend for ourselves for dinner we finally made it out the door and started heading to school.
As soon as I got to school I made a b- line for Ella's locker, I walked up to her as she was getting some books out. She turned to me with a smile "Hey Bay! Glad to see you are alive. What the hell happened after the party, I heard so many rumors" she questioned.
I could tell she was eager. I wasn't surprised that rumors flooded the school people love to talk and I am sure a girl fleeing from a party through a window gave people a lot to spectate on. I filled her in on my making a run for it, and how I got caught by Dallas right before almost dying from drunk Soc's.
"Fuck Bay, that is insane," says Ella
"Yeah it was a crazy night, I am grounded until the end of time. I'm not allowed out of my house. Only for school. It's starting to drive me crazy Darry even boarded up my window."
"I can't believe you jumped out of the window at the party" Ella laughed.
I leaned up against a locker while Ella continued to dig through hers "Yeah... not my best moment, What about you? Did you get busted too" I questioned.
"Nope," Ella said popping her P, she then explained how after Johnny took her home her mom and mom's boyfriend were both knocked out drunk and didn't even notice or care she was gone.
"You are so lucky" I exclaimed.
"Yeah...I am so lucky my mom don't give a shit about me" she said sarcastically
