Love was painful.
Love was betrayal.
Love was devastatingly disappointing.
How could Snape lie to her for all of these years and then walk out of the room without so much as a glance in her direction.
Like she didn't matter at all.
The following days dragged on slowly as Hally fell into the deepest of depressions.
She had left Dumbledore's study not long after Snape had without allotting the headmaster more than a few minutes to explain to her what that object was.
Once he had tried to come to Snape's defence she opted to leave the study; she wasn't ready to hear that yet. She needed to feel this— she needed to be angry.
The image of the saviour he had always been to her had started to unravel.
Hally had crawled into bed that night and had hardly left it all— not even bothering to attend any of her classes during the following week.
She just laid in bed, cried and slept her days away.
For the first few days Hermione and Ron had been rather concerned by her behaviour and tried desperately to get her up but she had merely turned away from them each time. Finally, they had grown so concerned and desperate for her to at least have something to eat that they involved Dobby, who bless his little heart, would bring Hally mountains of her favourite foods but even that didn't work. The stress had curved her appetite to the point where she was sustaining herself on a piece of toast and some water everyday that week.
They didn't know what was happening and she didn't intend on telling them. She figured that part of it was because she wasn't ready to face the truth yet but she knew that the main reason was not wanting to tell them without giving Snape a chance to explain.
Even through all of the hurt, she was still protecting him and his horrid secret.
The pain she was feeling was never ending but unfortunately, so was the love she still felt for him.
Hally desperately wished that he would show up and explain himself, she hoped that there was some rational reason behind his joining of the death eaters but the coming days proved that he was too cowardly to seek her out on his own.
By the time the fifth day of her pity party rolled around Hermione was very clearly fed up with her antics as Hally awoke with a startle as her best ripped her blanket off of her in a huff.
"You need to get up.' She started as she balled the blanket up before throwing it on the floor and placing impatient hands on her hips. 'I know that you don't want to talk about what happened and I'm not going to force you to but it's almost time for the third task. You need to practice some spells."
