Fear was something that had been normalized in Hally's life from a young age.

Her unfettered knowledge that the world was cruel— as were the people in it, is what had kept her safe for all of these years.

She despised being vulnerable and relying on someone in any capacity.

Things got better when she had met her best friends. They didn't just guide her through the darkness, they went into it with her. Faced it with her.

The fear diminished drastically when she realized that she finally had people in her life who loved her and wanted the best for her. Even if her old self had tried its hardest to self-sabotage sometimes.

Snape was one of the people who had no problem facing the darkness around her but more than that, within her.

He was there for her always.

She knew that she was young, that her life was more complicated than her peers but he remained a prominent figure anyways and she knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that if anyone deserved her love, it was him.

Still that fear was there.

What if he never loved her the way she wanted ? What if he just simply couldn't ?

Could it really be the case that all of the events that had transpired between them were just a mere fantasy as he had said ?

Or was he just being cruel ?

"Hally are you listening to me ? We're going to be late !" Hermione's frantic eyes came back into focus as she finished shoving her Herbology book into her bag.

A new semester meant a fresh start, so why couldn't she stop thinking about their talk in the hospital wing ?

Hally had made a vow to herself to spend less time in her head this semester, especially now that there were extra students in the school, she wanted to do her best to put herself out there more.

"I'm coming, jus' feel a little sluggish this morning."

Hermione stopped in her tracks as worry took over. "You're not going to pass out again, are you ?"

Hally let out a small giggle as a smile overcame her lips. "No I'm fine, I had a hard time falling asleep last night. Too many thoughts."

Hermione let out a light-hearted huff. "Aren't there always ?"

Hally nodded her head in agreement but didn't elaborate further as they made their way down to breakfast. Truthfully ever since the nightmare she had and her scar burning she had been dreading sleep. She would keep herself up until her eyes started to burn and she physically couldn't stay awake any longer. Last night she had even considered inquiring about dreamless sleep draught. She figured she could ask Snape to teach her to brew it from a purely academic standpoint. He would probably see right through it though as she had already confided in him about her nightmare but he wouldn't refuse her. He never did when it came to her fascination with the subject and brewing.
