Everyone in the front row of the crowd gasped snapping Hally's attention off of Snape.

She looked around at the panicked faces of the professors and Ministry officials that were running towards them.

"Hally—" Professor Dumbledore started before Snape cut him off with a raise of the hand that wasn't on Hally's shoulder.

"It is as we feared, headmaster."

Dumbledore's eyes widened slightly at Snape's words before his attention was pulled to the deceased Hufflepuff next to them.

Hally sobbed louder while hugging her arms around herself as a half assed attempt to self-soothe since burying her head into Snape's chest wasn't currently an option.

Regardless of the chaos surrounding them his hand remained glued to her shoulder— in both a comforting and protective manner that she was grateful for.

"What's happened Dumbledore ?!" Fudge came barrelling over while looking at Cedric's body.

"A boy has just been killed. Keep everyone in their seats." Hally heard the headmaster murmur back.

The crowd was starting to get rowdy and her stomach sank at the sight of Cedric's parents breaking through the barrier and running towards them in hysterics.

Snape at last, let go of her shoulder but before she could protest from the empty feeling removing it let seep into her bones he stood to his feet and wrapped a hand around the meat of her arm to pull her up with him.

Her head was pounding still from the pain in her scar as she briefly lost her footing from the dizziness it was creating and stumbled into him.

Luckily for her though his large hands caught her waist before she could topple over.

For a moment the mayhem around them faded as they looked into each other's eyes but that brief reprieve was short lived. Amos Diggory had managed to charge past Dumbledore and Fudge with his wand pointed in Hally's direction.

Without a second thought Snape harshly shoved her backwards by the hold he had on her hips before he efficiently blocked the spells that Amos was sending her way.

"You did this ! My son's death is on your head ! You bloody monster ! You coward !" He screamed as Hally fell to the ground in her disorientation.

Dumbledore and Fudge managed to wrangle the man's wand from his hand as he continued to shout insults at her.

Hally's heart broke even more than she thought was possible as the grieving father was making accusations that she had done this. That she was the one who killed Cedric.

She had already said what had happened. Voldemort was back. She wasn't the one who killed Cedric.

She spared a wary glance at the sixth year's body once more, she may not have said the spell that took his life but she couldn't help but feel like his death was indirectly her fault.
