My Sweet Mermaid

~ Chapter 26 ~

+Mel's POV+

I got dressed for a bonfire party we got invited to. I had tan brown sports bra type shirt. It was slightly longer than a bra. I wore black jean booty shorts with a grey zip up jacket that belonged to Lili. I put bracelets on and my high-top converses. I smiled at the fit and went downstairs to see Destiny and Justin all ready. 

Destiny was wearing black ripped jeans with a black long sleeved shirt. She had combat boots on. Justin wore a plain white shirt with black jeans and a green long sleeve jacket with a collar and his white Jordans.

We soon arrived to Adam and Dennis. I texted Lili and Jaiden in our group chat to see if they were here already.

Me: Hey are you guys at the house already?

Bub <3: I'm here in the back.

Jai: I'll be there in 5 mins.

I put my phone away and I started walking off to find Lili. This place was packed. There were 3 bonfires set up along with coolers filled with soda and beers. I saw alcohol on tables with food. I saw Lili and ran to her. She hugged me and I smiled. I backed up to look at her outfit. She had an oversized grey sweater with a white shirt peeking at the bottom. Black jeans and white Nikes.

"I like the fit." I spoke.

"Same to you, darling." We walked out back to the bonfire. I seen Jaiden with Destiny. I walked towards them. As soon as they looked up at us, Justin came over.

"Oh Jaiden, this is Adam and Dennis. The party hosts." I introduced them.

"Hello, it's nice to meet you." Jaiden smiled, lightly.

"Welcome to our party. A friend of them is a friend of us." Dennis said. 

"You know what he means. He is already drunk." Justin said before the 3 of them left. We started laughing lightly.

"Is this your first party, Jaiden?" Hannah asked.

"Uh yeah, I'm not really a party person."

"Same." Me and Lili said in sync. We laughed.

"We drag them." Destiny said. I laughed.

"Makes sense. I can see that happening." We loosened up by drinking and dancing. 

+Jaiden's POV+

This was the most fun I have ever had in a long time. It felt great to loosen up. Of course, something always happens every time something goes well. I froze and my eyes changed colors. I seen Lili hold my shoulders and I gulped.

"What's going on?" Mel asked, concerned.

"Someone is hurt." Lili explained.

"S-someone's b-bleeding." I mumbled and glanced at her. Her eyes widened along with Destiny. Hannah and Lili didn't seem phased but then again they know everything compared to a new vampire like me. 

"Jaiden, breathe with me." Lili said. We took deep breaths and I soon calmed down. 

"I'll go get more drinks to calm everyone down."

Time's ticking, Jaiden

I looked around, knowing that was Anubis's voice. I shook my head and focused on the party and my friends. Lili was watching Destiny, Mel, and Hannah dancing with each other while singing the songs. 

"I'm going to go get some fresh air. I'll be back." I told them. They nodded and I left into the woods. I took deep breaths.

"Just breathe, Jaiden. Stop being so anxious." I heard branches breaking and turned quick.

"Who's there?" I asked. I heard more sounds coming from all around me until I was pinned to the tree with a hand on my mouth. His eyes flashed a orange red color.

"Remember the plan."

You need to have Mel and Lili trusting you. 

Act like nothing happen.

Get Mel away from Lili to kidnap Mel.

Take her to an abandoned place.

"I was sent by a king to kidnap Mel because his son is to marry Mel to rid her kingdom of power and money. If you don't kidnap her, your family will die and I will make their deaths painful. Her family killed mine so I want her to suffer and what way to do that then have her close friend betray her." 

I don't want to go through with this.

"Listen, Jaiden. I'm serious. You think you know Mel but you don't. Your little friend that you have know for a couple months is a mermaid." My eyes widened and I shook my head.

"No, she's a human."

"No, she is a mermaid princess. Her brother is the heir to the Bluewater Kingdom. Mel is my aunt." 

What but Mel and Lili?! They can't be.

I had no idea what to do with this information. He squeezed my throat and I struggled to breathe. I smacked his arm.

"S-stop." I heard sounds and turned to see Adam and Dennis. 

What the hell are they doing here?

They looked up to see me pinned to a tree.

"What the hell is going on?" Adam spoke out, agitated. 

"Who the fuck are you, dude?" Dennis spat out. They came towards us but Anubis was faster. He was holding them both up by their throats.

"Stop! Please!" I yelled, not wanting any bloodshed. 

"Let us go!" They pleaded. 

"You seen too much." Anubis was in killing mode. No mercy to those who try to go against him. They were in fear and I felt my eyes water.

"Stop. We won't tell anyone." Dennis said trying to get out of his hold. 

"You won't live to tell." Anubis said.

"No!" He ripped their throats out. He dropped them and I was petrified at the sight. I rushed to them.

"I'm so so sorry." I had no idea what to do because I was controlled. I was a puppet to this villain. I saw the looks in their eyes. 

Their life was gone and I saw as they passed. I stood up and walked from them because of the blood.

"You're a fucking psychopath."
