My Sweet Mermaid

~ Chapter 28 ~

Today was the day. Everyone was getting gathered at the cemetery for Adam and Dennis. Their family and friends. I looked in the mirror to see myself in a black button-up tucked into black dress pants. I had black Nikes on. My hair was half up and half down with a small bun. I headed to the cemetery, feeling sad. 

You guys didn't deserve this. Who ever did this to you will pay and I'll make sure of that.

I pulled up to the line of cars and parked. I took out my umbrella and opened it.

"Lili!" I turned to see Mel, Destiny, and Justin.

Mel was wearing a black sweater tucked into her black skirt. She had leggings to keep her warm along with her knee high boots. Destiny wore a black dress and sneakers with a fluffy jacket on. Justin's outfit was similar to my outfit.

"This is insane. The most well known guys are having a funeral. This isn't right. This is why vampires shouldn't belong." Justin spoke out. 

"Justin, please don't start." Mel said. Her eyes were red, most likely from crying. My heart ached for her.

"What? I'm saying the truth. Those bloodsucking monsters are at fault for my best friends being dead." Justin spat out. Jaiden came up to us.

"Hey." 

"Hey, Jaiden." Destiny said. 

"Justin, right now is not the time. We are here for Dennis and Adam who have sadly passed." Justin scoffed and walked off. Mel sighed.

"What's going on?" Jaiden asked, confused about Justin's temper.

"Justin is blaming vampires like he always does. He is taking it hard because Adam and Dennis were his bestfriends. He despises vampires and wants to rid the world of them." Mel explained. Jaiden put his head down. I seen a tear fall down his face. We soon walked to where everyone was. 

"We are here for Adam and Dennis Hart. They were sadly taken away from this world the night of a bonfire party. They were well known in town with their parties. They just wanted to live their life to the fullest with no regrets. They will be remembered. For anyone who wants to give a speech. Please come up." Justin went up after a few people talked. I held a breathe.

"Justin, please keep it appropriate." Mel mumbled. 

"Hello, my name is Justin. A lot of you know me because of how close I was to Adam and Dennis. They were my best friends for a long time. They were like my brothers. They were my family and they didn't deserve what happened to them. I shared my last memory of them at the party. We were drinking and having the time of our lives. Playing games and sports while warming up around the bonfire. They headed to the woods saying they wanted fresh air. I just told them, "cool. just be back fast.", little did I know that they wouldn't be coming back. I still blame myself for not going with them. I think constantly like if only I went, they could have been alive." Justin's voice cracked at the end. I put my head down. Mel held my hand.

"It's going to be okay. They are in a good place." Mel whispered. I shed a tear while holding her hand tight. Justin sat back down, and I decided to go up. I see them in the caskets causing me to close my eyes and went to the podium.

"It's very heartbreaking what happened to two people I was very close with. I had known Adam and Dennis for about 10 years, and they became very good friends of mine especially, Dennis. Dennis knew me so well that if he was blindfolded in a crowd of people, he could find me." Some people laughed lightly. "I left the party early. I looked around for them but couldn't find them. I assumed they went off to the bathroom and left without saying goodbye. I never expected to get told that they were gone from this world. They were very caring people. People always judged them to be ruining their lives with parties, alcohol, and drugs but that didn't stop them. They genuinely cared for the people in this world whether they were humans, vampires, or mermaids. They treated everyone with respect, and they made friends so easily. They were selfless and they will be missed dearly. I hope they see that." I smiled sadly while tears were falling. I sat next to Mel and she immediately hugged me. 

The funeral went on for a little bit and I started walking to the car. Mel, Destiny, and Jaiden followed behind. My arm got tugged and I stopped. Mel stood in front of me. 

"Hey, look at me." I looked into her eyes and a tear fell down my face.

"I will kill whoever murdered them." I felt anger run through me. Mel's eyes softened. 

"Karma will come for them. They will get what they deserve." Mel comforted me. She wrapped her arms around my neck and I hugged her waist while burying my face in her neck.

"They didn't deserve this, Mel. Who could hate them?" I choked.

I heard walking and looked up slightly to see Jaiden leaving.

He hasn't said a single word since before this funeral. He is hiding something.

We went back to the beach house since Justin wanted to stay the whole day with the family. I parked and we all got out and went inside. I sat on the edge of the bed.

"Don't you think Jaiden was oddly quiet this whole funeral? He didn't say a single word." I spoke out.

"He was probably still processing everything. He went to his very first party and made two new friends that all of sudden got murdered. He is in shock. Everyone mourns differently." Mel explained.

"I mean I guess." 

"If I was in his situation, I would be the same way." 

+Jaiden's POV+

I walked into my room and I took off my blazer. 

"You haven't kidnapped her." I turned quick. 

"Of course you show up. Today isn't the day." I mumbled while sitting at my desk.

"Aww so sad over your little friends who died." I turned while giving him a cold stare.

"You killed them. You didn't have to but you did and with no fucking mercy. Those people will be crying forever at their loved ones death because of you. You did this!" I yelled while getting up. He pinned me to the wall with his arm against my throat.

"May I remind you who I am and what the consequences will be for disobeying me? You are under my control. Do you want your family dead or not because I can easily go to them and make their deaths painful?" I clenched my jaw and pushed him off me.

"I can't kidnap Mel when Lili is always by her, Anubis. Once Lili is away from her then I will fucking kidnap her."

"Think of fucking something or you can kiss your family goodbye!"
