Ashlyn had always been the type to refuse help. If she got sick, hardly anyone would find out. She hated getting help, not because it was embarrassing but because she never wanted to be perceived as someone who relied on others. Her parents wouldn't even figure out if she was sick half the time. But Aiden knew, he knew something was bothering her.

Ashlyn sat on her bed, she had the worst headache and her hearing was going crazy. She could hear every little creak and crack the house had to offer, her ears buzzed. She was overstimulated, things had gotten to much. She wrapped the blanket over her head, hoping for it to go away but it didn't..

She was getting peeved, she hated this, she hated her stupid hearing, she hated the phantom noises, she hated the ringing! She just wanted it all to stop, for everything to go back to normal. She wishes she could talk with others, she wishes she was a better friend but wishing got you no where. It just took up time, well, that's what she thought..

Knock knock

She glanced over, Aiden was at the window. She got up and opened the window up

'It's nearly 2am, what are you doing?' She asked

The boy climbed into her room and have her a small hug

'Wow, can't a guy come visit once in a while?' He snickered at her

Her face went to the floor, was she really going to tell this boy what was going on? She didn't tell her parents..but..

'I'm glad your here actually' She mumbled

Aiden was taken aback, was she really glad he was here?

'Ash..are you feeling okay.?' Aiden reached out to Ashlyn

Ashlyn immediately melted into his touch. As much as she denied it, she was touch starved.

'Ash-'

'I'm sorry' she pulled away

He pulled her back

'No..what's wrong?'

She looked up at him. He wasn't smiling and looked genuinely concerned. She tried to hold back her tears before digging her head into his chest

'It's too much, the noise, the phantoms, being the leader..'

'Shhh...it's okay' he pulled her to the bed, just going with it

'Sometimes it's okay to rest, you deserve it more than anyone' He ran his fingers through her hair

'Thank you..' She mumbled as she began to relax...

Not long after, they fell asleep cuddling. And Ashlyn finally felt as if she belonged. She had the boy of her dreams, and she was happy. She could think later, now she could simmer down and breathe.
