***Sorry for the delay guys :D***
~Mary~
Mary couldn't believe what was happening.
"I'm coming back..." Lilith stood firm in the doorway, eyes wet but resolute, "I'm coming back to you. To us."
Standing in front of her, Mary's teeth sank into the inside of her cheek hard enough to draw blood, "There's no us to come back to."
She slammed the door in the face of the woman she loved more than anything and turned to lean her back against the hardwood. The finality of it all sunk like an anchor in her chest. Mary's knees buckled, and she slid down to the floor to cry.
Mary woke slowly at first, feeling returning to her arms and legs sluggishly. She was face down on a bed that didn't feel or smell like her own, a warm caress against her back. Where the hell was she?
She couldn't ponder her whereabouts for long as a tidal wave of nausea crashed through her so suddenly, Mary bolted upright, half falling to the ground as she scrambled for the bathroom. But she didn't know where the bathroom was. Her head swiveled scanning the area blindly as she held back the bitter bile rising in her throat.
"Mary!" A hand was on her back, on her arm, Mary looked up to see Ava's golden-ringed eyes peering back at her. "What do you need?"
"Sick." Was all she could push past her lips, anything more would be vomit, it was that close.
Ava nodded once and Mary felt the grip on her arm become inhumanly powerful. She was pulling up off the floor, the Halo bearer basically carrying her through the ajar door she hadn't seen in her panic.
In a blink she was in front of the toilet, purging her body of the huge amount of whisky she'd ingested the night before. It was disgusting. The foul liquid burned at her throat and brought tears to her eyes, but once she started, Mary couldn't stop herself.
Ava stayed beside her throughout, one of the Halo bearer's hands rubbing her sweat soaked back while the other kneaded the tense muscles at the back of her neck. If Mary wasn't so distracted she would have been horrified her friend was seeing her like this but right now her entire body had one purpose and that was to rid herself of the alcohol sitting heavily in her stomach.
When there was nothing left, Mary sagged in relief, sobs racking her body instead of retches now. Ava made a sympathetic noise, moving closer and snaking the hand on Mary's back around her waist to give her a gentle squeeze. A memory from last night flashed through her head at the touch, a memory of pushing Ava up against the wall of the hallway, of kissing her hard, desperately, as she tried to bury the hurt in her chest.
Oh my God...
She jerked out of Ava's grasp in horror and thankfully Ava didn't follow her, letting her go easily as she tilted her head in concern, "Mary?"
But all Mary could do was shake her head, disgusted by what she had done. Ava was one of her best friends and she was engaged to one of Mary's other best friends. Kissing her felt like the ultimate betrayal to both of them.
Fuck.
"Is it about last night?" Ava had gotten annoyingly perceptive in the short time she'd known her and of course worked out what Mary was thinking about. "If it is, don't worry about it..."
"Don't say that!" She snapped suddenly, anger cracking through her like a whip out of nowhere. "It's unforgivable."
"Mary..." The Halo bearer murmured, scooting closer. "It's okay, I promise. You were in a bad place, you were trying to make yourself feel a little less bad..."
