Hey guys, I hope y'all are enjoying the story. I'm still planning out the final arc so between that and my other to WIP, there may be a couple of late updates while I work out the specifics. Thank you for all the comments and votes, they are so very motivating.
Happy reading :)

~Ava~

She barely paid attention to her surroundings as she stalked down the hallway, all she saw was a blur of numbers that didn't quite match the number on the key card clutched in her white knuckled grip.

She must be nearly there.

"Ava..." Halo's voice called from behind her, but Ava kept on walking, she may have even sped up.

"I don't want to hear it, Halo." She really didn't. Ava had already had her fill after the screaming match with Mother Superior. Well, the matriarch didn't scream, Ava did.

"I know," Halo grumbled, sounding more and more fed up by the second. "But you need to..."

Ava stopped dead and spun around, finally reaching her breaking point, "if it was me in there with you in my back, they'd be making a plan to get us out." Her words trembled with the strength of her emotion, and she struggled to tamp it down. The hallway was far too narrow for wings. "It's Beatrice, Halo."

After everything Bea had done for the OCS, they were turning their backs on her, again. Ava was bitterly reminded of when Reya had abducted the sister warrior, and she had to fight to make the OCS do something about it. How could they preach sisterhood and family and all that shit, yet leave one of their own to rot? It made Ava wild.

Fucking hypocrites.

Halo only just managed to avoid walking into her. "Things are more precarious now, you know that..." They reached out, like they might put their hand on her arm in an attempt to comfort her, but Ava pulled away sharply.

She knew the risks; she knew how powerful the bastards were, but this was Bea .

"I don't fucking care!" Tears were gathering at the corners of Ava's eyes and her voice cracked. "I don't care about any of that, I just want her back!"

"Ava..."

"No," Ava hated the sympathetic frown pulling at Halo's lips. "I'm... I need to, I need to be alone." She turned away, her feet carrying her away quickly and this time Halo didn't follow.

"Okay... I'll be nearby, if you need me." Ava finally reached her room at the end of the hallway, but before she opened the door Halo had one more thing to say, "you really should try to sleep."

That really was the icing on the cake. Mother Superior had commented on her over-tiredness as she was dismissing her.

I'm not some fucking toddler having a tantrum.

Despite the fury washing through her, Ava didn't respond. She just entered the room and shut the door behind herself. Only then did she breathe.

The Hotel room was plain but functional. There was a chest of drawers, a side table, and a bed. She was surprised to see a bag of her own clothes sitting on the green comforter, Mother Superior must've asked one of the others to pack some of her stuff for when she returned from the Otherside. Ava's jaw tightened as she felt a sting of regret, but as quickly as it was there, she squashed it. They were abandoning Bea...

Shaking her head, Ava lifted her bag off the bed and was surprised to see a second tucked so closely behind it, it had blended in at first glance. She reached down to undo the zip and tugged at the handful of fabric peeking out; her legs buckled.
