~Lilith~
The burn of the divinium blade slashing across her shoulder sent a ripple of shock through her body. Lilith fell hard to the concrete floor, but she'd served her purpose.
Adriel, whom Lilith had bought time to heal, met Ava in combat once again. Panting with pain and exertion, a whimper tore from Lilith's throat as she tried to get to her feet. The deep wound left by the divinium sizzled and crackled as her shoulder knit together. It was more agonizing than the cut being inflicted.
Healed but disorientated, Lilith stood. She was wobbly on her feet and staggered a few steps like a newborn deer before her gaze found the battle between the Halo bearer and her master.
Ava fought valiantly, but Ava was losing.
Lilith winced as the Halo bearer was blasted backwards, landing beside the body of the blonde boy Lilith's own hand had torn the heart from... the boy she'd murdered... no, Lilith refused to think about that right now.
Ava rose, blood trickling from a spilt above her eye, and bared her teeth at both of them.
"Time to end this," Adriel sauntered towards the Halo bearer, confident he had won, "and take back what is mine."
Ava glanced down to her dead friend, once, then twice, and, at the same time as Beatrice's voice screamed, Lilith realized what was about to happen.
An earth-shattering boom echoed throughout the Ark chamber and Lilith was forced to teleport clear of the explosion of divinium.
But when she materialized, she wasn't in the chamber anymore. In fact, Lilith wasn't on Earth anymore. She had only been to the Otherside once before, and she had been so out of her mind with pain after the tarask had run her through, she remembered nothing of her experience other than the sky, the same sky above her now. The sky that was streaked with reds and oranges and purples like a sunset, except, instead of one sun there were three, and they hung directly above her as though it was only midday.
"How did I..."
She teleported again instinctually, and found herself in the Ark chamber once again, hanging from the wall by her talons. Lilith blinked, more nauseous than usual from the travel between realms. How the fuck had she even managed that?
Lilith heard Beatrice calling Ava's name and looked over to see the sister warrior cradling the fallen Warrior nun in her arms, glowing blue divinium shards littered Ava's body. It was then that Lilith realized sister warrior was in love with the Halo bearer.
"You did it. It's over..." Beatrice murmured, helping the mortally wounded Ava upright.
But it wasn't.
Adriel's cackle broke through the heavy silence and when her eyes found the creature she had been serving for the last few weeks, Lilith felt nothing but the horrified realization of what she'd done.
This was no angel.
Adriel picked himself up off the floor, still laughing as he pulled a long shard of divinium from the mangled right side of his face, healing right before their eyes.
"What have I done?" She whispered, watching as he slowly walked towards Ava and Beatrice, her friends, her sisters.
Lilith closed her eyes and initiated her teleportation once again; she was too much of a coward to watch them die by her master's hand.
When she opened her eyes again, she was standing alone in a field, the cool autumn breeze cooling the sweat on her face and drying the blood that had been dripping down her arm. She'd betrayed the Order, betrayed her friends, her family, and for what? To help one monster beat another monster in their quest to take over the world.
