Their forbidden love (Steven Universe)

Chapter One

   Steven slowly opened his eyes and saw a soft light coming from downstairs. He sat up and looked down at the second floor. He sat in silence while he tried to pry his eyes open. Weary, he focused and saw amethyst raiding the fridge, already with an armful of food. Steven looked at his cookie cat alarm clock. 2:27, it read.
"Really amethyst?" Steven said. "It's two in the morning."
Amethyst set the food in her arm on the counter and gave Steven a toothy grin.
"Sorry Dude, I got hungry!" She picked the food up and walked to the door behind the warp pad. Her gem glowed brightly and her door opened, closing behind her as she entered. Steven groaned, Amethyst had left the fridge door open.
"C'mon Amethyst!" Steven yawned and swung his bare feet over the side of the bed. His feet slapped against the steps as he walked downstairs. He shut the fridge door and headed back to the steps. As his foot landed on the first step, he heard a scratching sound. It came from the door. He walked to the door and opened it. He was greeted by a pink lion.
"Oh, hi Lion." Steven said. "I didn't know you were outside." Lion yawned and stepped inside. Steven watched as the cat jumped up on the couch and walk in circles. Lion plopped himself down and took a deep breath.
Steven smiled at his unique pet and turned back to the stairs. But again as he took a step he heard the scratching sound again.
Steven looked around the beach house as the sound continued. Just as suddenly as it started, it stopped. Steven looked at Lion and saw Lion staring back at him. His eyes were bright and illuminated the whole room.
"Do you know what that sound is Lion?" Steven asked. Lion growled.
"I can't really understand you, but I'm going to take that as a No."
Steven walked around trying to locate the sound. He walked to the warp pad and back to the steps. He shrugged and took his first step, again. The sound came back, but louder. He lifted his foot but the sound continued, it wasn't the steps... He saw Lion's ear twitch as the sound became louder. Almost as if it was getting closer. Steven stood in the middle of the room. He heard a crack, and he trembled as the scratching sounded right next to him. The boards beside him opened and a large snake like creature slithered out. It looked like a giant rattlesnake. Except its tail was a triangle. A very pointy, sharp triangle. Steven tried to say something but failed, all that he could muster was a little squeak. The snake had a green gem on the top of its head. It had green beady eyes that darted back and forth and glowed slightly, its tongue slipped out and turned towards Steven. Steven shook uncontrollably as it loomed over him. It wrapped its tail around him and brought Steven close to its face and stared at him. It opened its mouth and shoved Steven in. As it tried to close its mouth a pink bubble appeared, Steven was defending himself. He held the bubble with all his might and cried out for his pet. Lion stood up and roared at the snake. The snake was thrown back by Lion's sound wave. It spit Steven out and slithered off of the broken kitchen towards Lion. Lion growled at it and the Snake stuck his tongue out, smelling Lion. Steven's bubble popped and he watched the showdown between The snake and Lion. Lion roared and the snake was thrown back again. It crushed Steven's bedroom and slithered back up. It moved its tail at Lion and he ducked, the tail shaving a bit of his mane. Lion ran towards Steven and put his snout underneath his legs. He snapped his head up and Steven was thrown on Lion's back. Lion slammed against the door and shattered it into pieces as he jumped from the porch to the beach below. When he landed Steven flew off his back, and into the water. The snake burst through the house's wall and slithered awkwardly down to the beach. It's tongue flickering smelling where it's prey was. Lion growled loudly and the snake went towards him. Steven sat up, covered in water and wet sand. He saw the fight between the Snake and Lion. Afraid he would lose his pet he ran to help. He summoned his shield and grabbed a rock. He started banging the rock against the shield creating a loud sound. The snake turned towards him and his heart sank. He was so scared, but he had to be strong. He was a crystal gem, and he needed to act like it. He took off running towards the snake, but before he got too close he threw his shield. The shield flew threw the air towards the snake, but curved last second and went around it. Steven was too close to the Snake before he realized his miss throw. The snake slashed his tail at Steven. It all happened so fast, the Snake's sharp tail cut Steven in half. There was a loud *POOF* and a cloud of dust as Steven's gem dropped into the sand. Steven being half gem, retreated into his gem to regenerate his physical being. The shield went around the snake but it came back. Like a boomerang, it hit the snake right in the gem. Hard enough that the snake could feel it in it's deepest being and it could actually feel pain, but not quite hard enough for it to crack. There was a loud *POOF* and a cloud of smoke as the Snake, too, retreated into its gem. Lion stepped towards Steven's gem and whined. He picked the gem up in his mouth and ran to what was left of the beach house. He sat in front of the temple door and whined loudly, occasionally scratching at the door. Finally an annoyed Pearl stepped out. She saw the wrecked house and her face went pale.
"STEVEN!!!" She yelled. She turned around at the door and opened Amethyst' door.
"What do you want..." Amethyst looked at Pearl and saw her face. "W..What's wrong P?" She ran towards Pearl and saw the beach house.
"Where's Steven?" Amethyst asked. Pearl had tears in her eyes.
"I don't know." She muttered.
Amethyst called Steven's name repeatedly.
"If this is a prank, its not funny!" Amethyst yelled.
Pearl crumpled to the ground. 'Where is he?' She thought. She had tears streaming down her face.
"STEVEN!!!" Yelled Amethyst. "I can't find him P." She said to pearl. She sat next to Pearl and embraced her in a hug.
"What could have happened here?" Pearl asked. "Where is our Steven?" She said.
Lion rubbed against them both and purred. Pearl pushed him away but he came back. Amethyst looked up at the wreckage. The whole building was destroyed, and Steven was nowhere to be seen. Lion continued rubbing against then and purring.
"WHAT DO YOU WANT?!?" yelled Pearl at Lion. Lion sat back and dropped a pink gem from his mouth. Pearl scrambled out of Amethyst' embrace to examine the gem. She picked it up and laughed, relief filled her body.
"It's him." She said. Amethyst looked at the gem.
"Is it?" Amethyst said.
"What do you mean?" Pearl said wiping a tear off of her cheek.
"Remember, Rose gave up her physical form to make Steven. We don't know who will come back." Amethyst said.
"What?" Pearl looked at the pink gem in her hands. Who would she want back, Steven or Rose?
