Chapter Twenty-Seven

Steven breathed heavily while under the bed. The bed was pressed close to the ground with little space between it. It was a tight squeeze but he could fit. All he had to do now was wait. Steven quickly thought over what he told his girlfriend. He suddenly smiled.
"My girlfriend." He whispered. A wide smile spread across his face as he thought about how nice it was to call Connie his girlfriend. His best friend and also girlfriend. The smile grew wider as he thought about how cute she looked today. Her hair was in a nice ponytail and had a nice dress on and-
"Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhut the fuck up." A voice inside his head said. He frowned.
"Oh no not you..." He said aloud.
"Well what do you expect? I heard my name and needed to jump in. You can't hide anything from me. You know what I'm capable of. I'm a part of you now. I AM YOU. But I pop in for one second and you're drooling over this girl. As I said, I'm slaughtering her first." An evil chuckle echoed in his head.
"Long time no hear." Steven thought.
"Oh? We spoke just today. Need I remind you of what happened?" Images flashed before his eyes of himself hurting Amethyst, chasing Pearl, and getting tackled by Garnet.
"No." He thought.
"Don't get cocky with me kid. I will end you in a heartbeat." Adventurine responded. Steven felt something drip into his hand. He rolled his eyes knowing that it was his nose. Luckily for him Connie had extra boxes of Kleenex under her bed. When he first found out he was mildly curious but when she explained it wasn't something that peaked his curiousity. If Connie ever got sick she was forced to stay in bed with her parents taking care of her. Obviously she usually had a runny nose, which meant a lot of tissues and gross tissues. Her parents were sick of buying them so they just kind of bought a bunch in bulk and shoved them under her bed.
"Shut. The. Fuck. Up. Don't think about that disgusting shit. Wipe your nose you filthy pig."
Steven sighed and opened a box. He plucked tissues out and wiped his nose. Just in case he put a handful more in his pocket. He had a feeling he would see Adventurine again today.
"You are much more powerful than you think, I managed to slip past last time and I will do it again." She said. Steven tried to zone her out. And it actually worked for a moment before he was reeled back in by something she said. "Ah, you heard that. Now that I have your attention let me continue... your uh-what was it? Oh yes, your mother was an extremely powerful gem. And now that she's gone and your in her place, I can take over with more power than I ever have had before." Adventurine stated with excitement in her voice.
"...extremely powerful?" Steven asked.
"Oh yes, Rose Quartz had the power to break apart massive fusions with nothing but her bare hands." Steven put his hands to his face and cupped it.
"Just because she can doesn't mean I can." He thought.
"No-No-No child. You can do anything she can. But you're even stronger. Being a hybrid of this planet's species and a gem you're resistant to any kind of gem technology. So, when I drag you out of the front seat and beat you with a stick I will have all that power. And I will crush your hope, love, and dreams." As an added affect she made his head jump up. Which isn't bad unless you're in a tight space with a bed above you.
"OWWWWW." Steven started to yell but muffled it as he put his head down on the floor. He put his hand on his head in pain.
"You're mean you know that?" He thought.
"Mean? I am anything but mean. I prefer the term, 'bitchy'. Suits me nicely huh? Anyways I have better things to do than fuck around with a little piggy in his pen. Toodaloo!!!" She chuckled loudly and her voice trailed behind her. It faded away and growled under his breath.
"She really is that too." He said aloud. He sighed. What would he do? Connie has no ability to help him, the gems don't know and not even Steven himself knew how to get rid of this gem. He put his head down and shut his eyes. Steven felt his mind drift away before he was hugged by darkness.
